Santiago is the loviest man we have met on our travelling journey. He has made us feel so welcome and taught us so much about planting/growing veggies in his garden and veggie patch. We absolutely loved Ali the dog Sushi the cat and the new member of the family Tina (she was named after me 😂) who we rescued on our last day! The work was very manageable and enjoyable for us! We had a wonderful time and are truly really sad that the experience is now over. Thank you so much for having us Santiago and Tadeo..you both are lovely people and we will miss you so much ❤️ highly recommend x

We had an amazing time in Oteruelos! Santiago is a wonderful human, very humble, and just a great guy! Tadeo is a great kid with decent football knowledge. The work itself was easily manageable and there was a lot of time to enjoy the small village and the nature around. Taking Ali, the dog for daily walks, was lovely. Her and Sushi, along with the chickens, are the best companions. We also rescued a little kitten (now called Tina), who will become a great member of the Oteruelos family. Thank you so much for an amazing 2 weeks!!!

I had a great time in Oteruelos! Santiago was a very welcoming host. The house is very cozy and comfortable. Ally the dog and Sushi the cat were also great companions during my stay. Oteruelos is a beautiful little village and I really enjoyed taking Ally for walks and exploring. The work was hard at times but fun to learn some new skills. Was also able to enjoy lots of down time to relax. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy nature and work outside.

This experience for me was just okay. People should know that it is very remote (a village of about 8 inhabited houses (the rest abandoned)) and little to no service. If you are okay with being in such a rural setting, this might be the place for you. I found it difficult to arrange rides to/from Soria, but during the school year when the host is working, it is no problem. Another thing to be aware of is that although the work is not easy, it is not counted and organized ahead of time. Communication could improve but Santiago is a very good person and will teach you about sustainability.

Just a few corrections:

- Oteruelos is not a remote village. It's just 13 kms from the main city Soria (10 minute drive to Soria or 50 minute on your bike)
- There are buses to Soria on Mondays and Thursdays.
- Most of the houses are not abandoned. They are summer or weekend houses. In the summer there are about 30 neighbors and you can arrange rides to Soria easily. All you need is to ask anyone there (most of the people conmute to Soria everyday) and it helps if you speak a bit of Spanish and make the effort to ask for a ride.
- Last week, as you know, it was the local festival in Soria and there weren't many `people in the village -they were on holidays or enjoying the festival- And you seem to forget that you spent a day in Soria during the local festival and stayed the night in Soria thanks to my friend’s hospitality. You said you were having a lot of fun there :)
- The work in the garden and in the house is quite easy if you enjoy being in contact with nature and walk through the forest or along the river with Ali.
- The work in a vegie garden can't get easily organized ahead of time as it depends on the weather conditions on the day (rainy, high temperatures..) and in the summer it's advisable to get up early to do the garden task when it's not that hot.

Santiago es una persona muy amable y atenta que siempre se preocupó por mi comodidad, hubo buena comunicación y respeto. El pueblo es bonito y pequeño, perfecto si quieres desconectarte de la ciudad. La habitación designada es agradable y limpia. Las comidas que prepara Santiago son deliciosas y nutritivas, además de que te da la libertad de tomar lo que necesites. Oteruelos está cerca de Soria, por lo que pude moverme y visitar otras ciudades, siempre se me llevó de ida y de vuelta, así que no tuve que preocuparme por el traslado. Es un voluntariado que recomiendo al 100%

I had a wonderful time in Oteruelos helping Santiago out. It was great to be so immersed in nature and Ali and Sushi were amazing companions too. Santiago and Tadeo were really welcoming and Santiago cooked up some wonderful meals.

Esta fue una experiencia sin igual, una oportunidad perfecta para conectar con la naturaleza y disfrutar de mucha paz y tranquilidad. Santiago es un excelente anfitrión, te hace sentir como en casa con su gran corazón y generosidad, siempre está pendiente de lo que puedas necesitar. Te muestra varios sitios de interés y te cuenta mucho de la historia y costumbres, además de que cocina delicioso! Las tareas son sencillas y gratificantes. Ali y Sushi son unos animalitos muy cariñosos que se roban tu corazón! Recomiendo esta experiencia 100%, espero volver pronto.

Santiago es una persona maravillosa y muy buen anfitrión! Nos mostró varios senderos por oteruelos y soria. El lugar es realmente hermoso, lleno de paz y armonía que nos hizo conectarnos con la naturaleza en todo momento. Gracias por tú generosidad y por tus recetas mágicas que fueron explosión en nuestros paladares. Extrañaremos mucho la euforia de Alí y los flojeos de Sushi.

Los días en Oteruelos fueron maravillosos! Estamos inmensamente agradecidos de la generosidad y hospitalidad de Santiago, que nos hizo sentir como en casa y nos mostró un poquito de la magia del pueblo y su gente. Las tareas fueron todas sencillas y entretenidas. Nos llevamos muy buenos recuerdos y las ganas de seguir conociendo Soria y Oteruelos, que realmente nos conquistaron. Extrañaremos los almuerzos exóticos de Santi y sobre todo a Ali y Sushi, con quienes nos encariñamos mucho. Volveríamos mil veces.

Santiago is a good and honest man. Moving with him is really a very good experience. If you want to rest your head and enjoy nature, I highly recommend a visit.
