Siendo el hostel mi primer voluntariado ha puesto las expectativas demasiadas altas. Una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido para poder conocer muchas personas y poder conocer la cultura local. Alex en todo momento fue súper atento, el equipo de trabajo y los otros voluntarios me recibieron con los brazos abiertos para ayudarme en todo y llevarme a conocer lugares. Me sentí muy bien recibida en el hostal, hay una vibra muy bonita y agradable.

Un lugar fabuloso donde uno puede conectar con la naturaleza del lugar, donde puedes avistar osos perezosos y una infinidad de aves. La ubicación es increíble ya que caminando 10 minutos encuentras el centro de la fortuna donde puedes conseguir lo que desees. Alex y su gente son muy amables y alegres, junto Sandra y naty me hicieron sentir en casa. Lo que si bajaría a 25 horas de trabajo para poder tener más días libres y disfrutar más de lo que nos ofrece ese increíble lugar. Y nala es la mejor anfitriona y mascota que el hostel puede tener. Éxito a todos !!

This was an excellent volunteering experience, Alex (the owner) makes you feel fully welcomed and home. the hostel is a beautiful place with a great environment. Working hours are flexible enough to get to know all around La Fortuna. A very clean and comfortable place which really encourages to do the work. Fully recommended :)

Fue la mejor experiencia de voluntariado que he tenido hasta ahora. Inmediatamente me sentí bienvenida al llegar y me hubiera encantado pasar más tiempo en the hostel. El trabajo de recepción es sencillo y el horario es respetado pero también flexible para realizar actividades y conocer La Fortuna. El ambiente es increíble para conocer a viajeros de todo el mundo y todos son muy amables. Muchas gracias Alex, Nati, Sandra, Natalia y a Nalita, la pasé bellísimo y ya los quiero volver a ver!

Volunteering at the hostel was one of the best decisions of my life. I spent magical moments there.The team is incredibly kind and welcoming and have always been very patient with my low level of Spanish. The tasks were interesting and the schedule accommodating to visit the surroundings. The place is super nice, with a friendly atmosphere, many places to relax or meet travelers from all over the world. I will never forget the intercultural and joyful moments shared with the team, the other volunteers and the guests. Thank you for everything Alex, Nati, Oscar, Natalia, Sandra and Nala.

Nuestra experiencia en el hostel fue muy buena, fue nuestro primer voluntariado y aprendimos mucho, pudimos mejorar nuestro nivel de inglés y conocimos personas que vamos a recordar para siempre! Hay muchas actividades para hacer en los días libres y se respetan los horarios pactados. En las horas libres pudimos realizar nuestros emprendimientos en el mismo hostel al tener espacios para trabajar. El voluntariado es muy recomendado para parejas o dúos.

We stayed at the hostel for 2 weeks and it was our first volunteer experience. All in all we were very happy with our stay, the tasks were easy, we met a lot of great people and travelers which was a lot of fun. La Fortuna provides a lot of opportunities to spend your free time. If you choose this volunteer experience be aware that you have to work 5 hours, 5 days a week to get accomodation in a dorm with up to 8 people. But you can use the well equiped kitchen and cook for yourself and also use the free laundry. If you want to see La Fortuna staying in Alex' hostel is definitly a great idea.

La Fortuna es un muy buen sitio para relajarse y el hostel el mejor lugar ahí. El nivel de trabajo es bajo, lo que te permite poder disfrutar y conocer bien el pueblo y alrededores. Alex es muy profesional y te ayuda en lo que necesitas. Nala, Buffay y Juana son lo mejor!! Si buscar tranquilidad y montaña, lo recomiendo!

Beautiful natural scenery, beyond friendly hosts, and much to learn!! 💕 I definitely recommend having fairly strong spanish language skills, and bring an extra pillow as the beds aren't the most comfortable. Unfortunately I had to cut my stay short due to a family emergency, but I felt very welcomed and enjoyed my time at the hostel :)

The experience at the hostel was cool, I learned a lot of skills because there was a lot of responsibility given to the volunteers. Checking people in, folding laundry, cleaning the kitchen, and generally being responsible for running the hostel during your five hour shift, which could be hectic at times but also chill at other times. I was meeting travelers from all around the world, and some were friendlier than others. The staff is friendly and helpful but didn't make a lot of effort to get to know me personally. I learned more Spanish and connected with other volunteers.
