I volunteered at Gijón the hostel taking care of the social media and it was such a fun and unforgettable experience! The team is super friendly and made me feel at home from the very first day. I got to do something I enjoy, improve my skills, and at the same time meet amazing people from all over the world. Spending my summer there was the best decision and I wouldn't change it for anything!

Gijón el hostel ha sido un lugar maravilloso para conectar con el surf y hacer amig@s, conocer asturias desde una forma local, hablar diferentes idiomas y disfrutar de las diferentes playas, crear comunidad y conexiones. Me ha encantado la experiencia en este lugar y me llevo un recuerdo muy bonito.

The pace of life here is very leisurely. Our work is simple and reasonable. I think we couldn't complain about anything . From the first day I arrived, I felt that everyone was very friendly and eager to help me fit in. I learned a lot here and had some invaluable experiences, especially for being a Taiwanese girl, I always felt like I was in an incredible dream. Thanks for Mareike for chosing me!

I spent 6 weeks at GSH and had the best time! Location is great, you can walk or bike most places, but public transportation is really easy to use in the hostel. You get free use of surf materials, yoga classes, and other activities or events in the hostel. This place quickly became home thanks to Marieke, the other volunteers and guests. I will never forget the memories and people I met here ❤️❤️

My volunteering experience at the hostel was absolutely amazing! From the very start I felt welcomed by the other volunteers and permanent staff members. At any time there are about 8 volunteers so it is incredibly social and creates such a nice sense of community. There is so much to do and see in the area, beaches, the old town, bars, etc. Bikes are available for free so you can ride everywhere around town. I worked in housekeeping and the hours were great. You work 5hrs so you have the whole first or second half of the day to do what you want. Loved this experience, highly recommend

Those five weeks that I spent in Gijón the hostel was the most fun and exciting period of my life. No words are enough to describe the heartwarming feeling of having created so many lifelong friends during this experience. The hostel is such a cozy and welcoming place and Asturias is one of the most breathtakingly gorgeous places I've ever visited. Work times and duties are respected and even when sometimes things don't go exactly as planned, you can just voice your opinion during the team meetings and you will be heard and respected. Would definitely recommend!!

Volunteering at the hostel has been an amazing experience. This was my first volunteer experience and it couldn't have been any better. If you want a mix of fun and relaxation this is the place. Merika is very organised and communicates great with the volunteers. I was lucky enough to have an amazing group of volunteers which made this experience so special. I would say having a basic level of Spanish is recommended and would make your job easier however it's not required! Overall I 1000% recommend this experience ❤️ I miss my Spanish family already 🇪🇸❤️

Volunteering at Gijón the hostel was my first volunteering experience, and I couldn't have asked for a better start. From the beginning, everything was clear and well-organized. The shifts and tasks were exactly as agreed, manageable, and with enough free time to enjoy the area and connect with people. It was a great way to meet travelers from all over the world and to bond with the other volunteers. I'm really grateful for the opportunity and would highly recommend this place to anyone considering their first volunteer experience! 💜☀️

My experience at the hostel has been amazing. This is the right place where you can prove yourself and learn so many things. I met a lot of wonderful and kind people from all over the world and we had a great time together. Sometimes the shifts were busy and hard, but all in all you can afford them. The manager was kind and she was super available to help or listen to you if there were some problems. I Will never forget this experience ☀️

I just came back from a 10-day experience at Gijón the hostel. I'm really grateful to have had the opportunity to stay there, even if only for a few days, because during my time there I was able to combine surfing with creating great memories alongside the other volunteers. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy while staying there, thanks to all the activities organized by the hostel. The work isn't hard, also because it feels like being in a big villa, you get to da variety of tasks instead of repeating the same one for five hours. I highly recommend this place.
