I had a great experience with Kurasawa San & Ai San. They are both very welcoming and of course preparing very delicious breakfast and dinners daily at Wander Kirchen 😍 Before coming please download the app LINE to communicate with staff and other volunteers this will help you on your arrival (you can see your shifts here) Please know, before coming we are currently working at three hostels (but they're all within close range) so don't stress. We are actually stationed at a house where we all live together (volunteers only) and the walk to work & wander kitchen is 20 minutes 😀

Kamakura is a magical town that breathes peace through its streets. The tasks to be carried out are very simple and leave a lot of free time to go to Yokohama or Tokyo. The atmosphere that is breathed is one of camaraderie and friendship but as if that were not enough... For the Love of God!! How Kurosawa San and Ai San cook!! The chefs of silence 🤩✨😋 you can only say: Oishi!! Totally recommended, you are taking time to apply 🚞

I had a great time volunteering at the guest house, I met a lot of interesting people working at the hostel, the staff is really nice, the food is delicious, and the work isn't difficult. It was an amazing experience overall.

I highly recommend to anyone to try this worldpackers experience if they have the opportunity! I had an amazing time in Kamakura on so many different levels. Kuni is a great host and you will get to eat delicious food every day. Kamakura is very peaceful city with lots of things to do everywhere! The work is easy and will give you plenty of time to wander around Kamakura and it's surroundings. You will also get to meet amazing people, I will deeply miss Kamakura and its people :)

I had so much fun here! It was a great way to make friends that were also visiting Japan, and the town is so relaxed and easy to explore. It felt like home so quickly, and I wish I had stayed longer! Thank you Kurosawa-San for allowing me to stay!

Having Kuni-san as a host is incredibly amazing 😆 he has a lot of story to tell and learn from. The foods provided also so delicious and healthy - love it so much! With this experience we meet and talk with a lot of locals knowing their culture. The volunteering schedule is organized properly but also flexible in a way. I am surrounded by fun, helpful, and welcoming volunteer friends as well :) The place is nice too in Kamakura, you will find a lot of hidden gem of Japan. Eventually, this host & place already feel like a home & family in Japan for me :)

I absolutely love my volunteer experience with Kuni, the host in the guest house/Bench. He is a very warm and welcoming person, we talked and shared stories a lot. I am honestly very inspired by his life stories. The volunteer arrangement is also great, I get to experience being a receptionist and talk to locals, an immersive experience for sure. Everyone is so nice and friendly! We also get to meet other volunteers and make new life-long friends. I also got very good foods and nice accommodation during the stay. Overall I highly recommend it :) Would love to go back again!

I planned to stay for one month working for the guest house bud ended up staying two more months because I liked it so much. The work is chill, the checking in and out of guests is easy! Most guests already payed so you don't have to worry about working with money to much. At the guest house you'll get the change to connect with travelers as in Bench (another hostel they own) you get to connect with locals, perfect way to practice your Japanese. Bud don't worry if your not fluent, English is okay too! Kamakura is offishly beautiful don't even get me started about kuni sans cooking. It's delicious!!!!!

It was a good experience at kuni's place! The place is 1 1/2 hours far from tokyo and it's located next to the beach, so you can have the calm „country life“ and the exciting tokyo atmosphere. You have to work almost every other day, but the work is simple. You have to work alone on the night shift at different receptions, but when there is an emergency or whether you need help, there are people who will help. You basically have everyday free, because you only have to work at night. It can be exhausting, to walk everywhere ( your stay, the place where you get kunis food and reception)

The stay in Kamakura was amazing! Kuni is really kind, understanding and welcoming. The food is always delicious, even if it's only two meals a day. The job is easy and even though the hours you work are longer you only work 3 days a week so you have plenty of time to explore the beautiful city of Kamakura and it's surroundings!
