My time in the hostel has been nothing but great! The location and vibe of the hostel are incredible and I felt really at home here! Max (manager) always did his best to support us through challenges and made sure we were always comfortable and safe! I grew very very close with the other three volunteers and Jaime (employe/sweetheart). I got to experience so many great things like surfing, paragliding and connecting with so many wonderful people that it will be very hard to leave this place! I'd love to come back one day that's for sure! Thank you for everything, hope to see you soon <3 Kisses!

I didn't like the attitude towards volunteers, sometimes rude and extremely demanding. The room for volunteers is 5 square meters with 2 bunk beds, very unhospitable.

Thank you, Simone. We always try to make our volunteers’ stay comfortable. We have the best location in the city, right in front of the ocean. However, the building is small, so the volunteers have a small room, too. We thought it was better than paying €30 / night for accommodation. You could’ve stayed as a guest and paid that price but you wanted to be a volunteer.

What we expected in exchange were 25h of work per week. But you could not deliver and decided to quit.

Max le manager de l'auberge et les volontaires étaient très sympathiques et accueillants. Max m'a très bien formé. Malheureusement je ne suis pas restée comme prévue car la chambre était vraiment très petite pour 4 volontaires, sans fenêtre, et le matelas pas du tout confortable. 1 seul jour de congés était possible tous les 3 jours, cela ne revient pas à 2 par semaine. L'auberge est propre et bien pour les clients, mais je trouve que travailler autant d'heures en tant que volontaire pour si peu de confort, c'est pas vraiment cool… Je suis donc partie dans une autre auberge.

The small room and the work hours, were discussed in detail before you accepted the offer. Once commented on the mattress, I offered you to change it or even switch the room entirely - you refused. I asked you to stay for a week until we find someone - you refused.

From my part, I did everything to find a solution. We have counted on you, as you had already signed the job contract, but you decided to leave anyway. Sad indeed.

Volunteering in this hostel was truly the best decision! Im so glad to have spent time with my amazing covolunteers and the whole hostel team! Everyone is really caring and hostel has the best location right at the beach. I will miss this place so much!

I had amazing 2 months at the hostel. The hostel is really nice and you are close to the beach 24h a day, which I loved! Max and Jaime are really nice with all the volunteers and made the experience great. Las Palmas is an awesome city and Gran Canaria has a lot of amazing spots to visit such as beaches, mountains and small towns. The only thing I could complain was the free surf and yoga classes that doesnt exist. I will really miss my time there, I felt like home and will definitely come back some day, either as a guest or a volunteer again!

As for free surf: In the confirmation message I’ve sent you before your arrival it mentions the surf lessons come with a discount for volunteers and they’re not free of charge completely as we work in partnership with the surf school and they do not provide any free service lessons at all. On the our surf equipment in the Hostel is free.

Mi voluntariado en el hostel ha sido una de las mejores experiencias de mi vida! El hostel es muy limpio y cómodo, los trabajadores y el resto de voluntarios me hicieron sentir como en casa y las vistas al mar son maravillosas! Los turnos están bien organizados y las tareas són fáciles de realizar. Tuve mucho tiempo libre para hacer turismo. Todo cumplió y superó mis expectativas, lo único que yo pensaba que las clases de surf y yoga eran gratis pero lo que te ofrecen es un descuento, aún así está muy bien y vale la pena hacerlo. En definitiva, un 10! Una suerte estar allí! Recomendadísimo!

My experience in the hostel was truly amazing!! Since the beginning I felt welcomed from the staff and volunteer. After some days I understand how the shifts worked and how I really started to feel the hostel as my home. The hostel itself is one of the best in Las canteras (also on what the guests said) and it's sooooo bright with a beautiful terrace. The experience in this hostel was a surprise, always something new happens there and you can find many moments to chill by your own, as many moments to share with others. I feel this experience really thought me a lot and made me grow. 10/10 :)))

My time at the hostel was amazing! I really enjoyed it and already miss it. The work is easy and the hours are completely fair. The manager is also super nice and courteous. Also the permanent employee Jaime makes it a great time and really treats everyone as family. I would recommend volunteering at this hostel to everyone! Lots of love for all of them🫶🏻🫶🏻

Una experiencia maravillosa. El hostel está ubicado genial, los primeros días no me podía creer que tenía la suerte de tener el océano 24h en frente de mi, es algo mágico. Max es muy amable, te pide el minimo necesario para que eñ Hostel funcione bien y siempre cordial y educado, un placer trabajar con el. Los otros voluntarios han sido muy importantes para mi y la cantidad de gente que conoces en ese hostel es increíble, encima todos jovenes viajeros con historias bonitas. Puedes organizar actividades y el hostel tiene de todo,guitarra,skateboard y otras cosas. Experencia única en el hostel

I really enjoyed my time at Hi Tide hostel! The work is straight forward and you know exactly what you're supposed to be doing at all times. You work 3 days on, one day off and the shift times vary each day so its not too repetitve. The hostel itself is right by the beach and the common areas are really clean and spacious. The volunteers also have their own dorm/space which was a nice plus. You have lots of free time to enjoy the beach and explore the island. I only stayed one month but could've easily stayed longer. Max and Jaime are so welcoming and it really felt like a home away from home!
