Program Details

This is a short-term volunteering opportunity for travelers already staying in Siem Reap (we do not provide accommodation). If you're visiting the region and don’t have enough time to join our 2-week teaching program, you can still make a big impact by joining our English Café.

At HELO School, Cambodian English teachers work with children from low-income families, but they have very little space to improve their own English.
Your 1–2 hours of natural conversation helps them grow in confidence, pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency — and this directly improves the lessons our children receive.

You’ll also enjoy a meaningful cultural exchange, meet inspiring local teachers, and support a community project in a friendly, relaxed environment.

🌍 Why This Matters
Our teachers teach English to kids, but they rarely interact deeper with fluent speakers. Your 1 hour helps them:
- improve pronunciation
- expand vocabulary
- speak more confidently in front of children
- learn natural English expressions
- understand different accents
- grow professionally

This means better lessons for our children — and a direct impact on their future opportunities.

❤️ Why You’ll Love It Too
- A meaningful experience even if you only have little time
- Real cultural exchange with local teachers
- Meet inspiring Cambodian educators
- Learn about life in local villages
- Contribute to a community project in a very real way
- Perfect for short-term travelers, digital nomads, and long-term tourists in Siem Reap. Pretty much everyone 🙂

Activities & Shift

🌟 What You’ll Do

Join one or two teachers for a relaxed 1–2 hour English Café session.
No lesson planning, no classroom responsibilities — just conversation.

Your role:
✔️ Chat casually with teachers
✔️ Speak slowly and clearly
✔️ Offer gentle corrections (ex: “Great! Try saying it like this…”)
✔️ Encourage them and build their confidence
✔️ Share cultural differences, travel stories, and everyday English

We prepare small conversation prompts so you never feel pressure to “teach a class.” It’s simply a friendly, purposeful conversation.

🕒 Shifts
- 10:00 AM or 4:00 PM (Monday to Friday)
- Join for 1 day, once a week, or whenever you're in the area
- Very flexible — we coordinate via WhatsApp
