What we expect from our Worldpacker
We look for volunteers with interest or background in ecology, biology or environmental sciences. Your tasks include observing biodiversity, documenting wildlife, supporting basic soil comparisons, taking field notes, organizing simple datasets, and capturing photos/videos to share scientific discoveries on social media. Curiosity, responsibility and deep respect for nature are essential.

What you can expect from us
You’ll stay in one of our boutique eco-lofts or in a communal area currently being adapted to host volunteers. We offer guidance, clear tasks, and the chance to colaborate inside a regenerating cloud forest with real conservation impact. This is a space to disconnect from noise and reconnect with nature—our ethos is Unplug to Connect. You’ll learn, explore, and contribute meaningfully while experiencing the Chocó Andino at its best.

Activities & Shift

Weekly structure:
25 hours per week, usually 5 hours/day for 5 days, with flexibility depending on weather and ecological activity.
Monday to Friday – Main Volunteer Tasks

Morning shift (8:00–12:30, with a short break)

Biodiversity walk-through in restored and conserved areas

Bird, insect, plant and wildlife observations

Field notes: species behavior, tracks, phenology changes

Soil comparison tasks (simple sampling, texture notes, photo documentation)

Organizing data and photos/videos for scientific storytelling

Light forest-care tasks when needed (checking planted areas, minor trail clearing)

Afternoons:
Free time for the volunteer to rest, explore, or connect with nature

Weekends

Normally: Weekends are rest days to relax, recover and enjoy the forest.

Exception:
If we have guests interested in guided walks, the volunteer may join as a nature guide, sharing:

Their biodiversity observations

Bird or wildlife findings

Soil or forest regeneration insights

Any discoveries made during the week

This is optional and depends on the volunteer’s interest and comfort talking to guests.

Weekly Task Management

The person in charge will provide a weekly task list with clear priorities.

Progress will be reviewed regularly to ensure learning, safety and proper ecological documentation.

Rules

This is an ecological reserve, so respect for nature is essential at all times.

No loud music, parties or disruptive behavior. Silence and harmony with the forest are part of our ethos.

Do not damage plants, disturb wildlife or leave waste on the trails.

No smoking inside the lofts or in closed areas. If you smoke, only do so in designated outdoor spots and away from vegetation.

Keep shared and natural areas clean and tidy.

Use water and energy responsibly; we operate with limited resources in the forest.

Follow safety instructions and stay on marked trails unless authorized.

Treat the project, staff and guests with respect—this is a space to reconnect and live our philosophy: Unplug to Connect.
