Program Details

🌿 Volunteer Program in Yungaburra, Queensland

Join us in the heart of the charming heritage village of Yungaburra, nestled in the stunning Atherton Tablelands—a short drive from the Great Barrier Reef and surrounded by waterfalls, lakes, and rainforest walks.

We’re looking for 1–2 hardworking volunteers to help with gardening, painting, cleaning, and general maintenance around our property. In return, you’ll enjoy:

🏡 Accommodation: Your own private room in our modern, comfortable home.*
🍽️ Meals: All food is provided. We supply the ingredients, and you cook your own meals.
👩‍🤝‍👩 Company: Share the property with myself and my friendly housekeeper/receptionist.
🌺 Location: Just steps from local shops, cafés, and a short walk to the famous platypus viewing platform.

*Clarification: We generally host only one volunteer at a time so you can enjoy your own private room. However, there may occasionally be a short overlap, in which case you might need to share the room with one other person.

As well as the platypus, the area is rich with wildlife—you might spot tree kangaroos, cassowaries, red-legged pademelons, green frogs, colourful butterflies, and many other fascinating marsupials and birds that call this region home.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers who enjoy hands-on work, nature, and experiencing the relaxed lifestyle of the Tablelands. You’ll have plenty of time to explore local markets, swim in crater lakes, and even take a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef! 🌊

I usually offer a maximum stay of 2 weeks, but I’m happy to extend it if the arrangement works smoothly for both of us.

Activities & Shift

🛠️ Activities

Volunteers help with a variety of hands-on and outdoor tasks, including:

Gardening, weeding, and light landscaping 🌿
Cleaning and general maintenance around the property 🧹
Painting and small renovation projects 🎨
Occasional help with organising or light indoor tasks/housekeeping 🏠
If you enjoy nature, working with your hands, and seeing the results of your effort, you’ll love it here!

⏰ Shifts

Hours: Generally 5 hours per day, 5 days per week.
Days Off: Enjoy 2 days off to explore Yungaburra, the Atherton Tablelands, nearby waterfalls, and rainforests — or simply relax at our cosy home.
Schedule: Flexible hours, tasks can be adjusted.

A typical day starts at 9 am, with a lunch break from 12 to 1 pm, and activities resuming from 1 to 3 pm. I’m flexible with the schedule as long as you complete 25 hours per week. The starting time can be adjusted, but it’s important that you begin at the agreed-upon time each day.

By accepting this volunteer position, you acknowledge and agree that this role is unpaid and does not constitute an offer of employment.

As a requirement for volunteering, you must hold current travel insurance and provide proof of this upon arrival before commencing any volunteer duties.
