Program Details
The helping tasks required strength (sometimes it's heavy helping tasks 💪) and will get dirty. Also note that there are mosquito, bugs, bees, and spiders at the farm, hope you understand the situation.
The tasks include weeding, trimming, plumbing, painting, arranging concrete blocks, and moving goods as needed 🌱🔧. Tasks are mainly helping out around the farm while enjoying and experience life in Chiayi, Taiwan.
Activities & Shift
Our schedule and cultural exchanges are flexible and can vary from day to day. You'll stay at my tea shop in downtown, and we usually head to the farm at 12:30PM/1PM.
The farm is about 30 minutes away (around 1 hour round trip). On helping days, the total time is usually 6-7 hours, including travel, farm work, and sometimes stops along the way to see my farmer friends, buy materials, or enjoy local street food.
Actual helping time at the farm is about 4 hours per day 5 days a week, with 1 meal provided on working days. The rest of the time you're free to experience Chiayi and connect with local life and Taiwanese culture.
Rules
When you arrive (ideally before 12PM), your room, bed sheets, pillow covers, and restroom will be clean and ready. During your stay, please keep your space tidy and clean. Before you leave (ideally between 10AM-12PM), help tidy your room, clean the linens, and take the garbage downstairs. There is a 24-hour laundry near the tea shop, you can head there to wash the bedsheets and linens before you leave on the day.
Please note that the number of volunteers can vary, sometimes it may be just you. Depending on my health and circumstances, I may assign tasks and only required 1-2 volunteers with me on the farm, and on those days you may not join the farm work. I hope you understand this in advance to avoid any misunderstandings.
We are a team-oriented environment, so please communicate any private plans, trips, assignments, online classes, or other obligations you might have in advance before you arrive. This helps ensure a smooth experience for everyone during your stay.
