🌿 Help at an EcoLodge in the El Yunque Mountains, Puerto Rico 🏞


The experience

Imagine waking up surrounded by the lush rainforest of El Yunque, 1,500 feet above sea level, where waterfalls and natural pools await after a day of collaboration and learning. 🏞🌺

This eco-lodge, welcoming travelers for over 30 years, is run by Marianne (96!) and her son Matthew — wonderful people full of stories and love for nature. Activities include painting, small repairs, trail maintenance, and refreshing rooms and common areas.


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Arts: Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Accommodation: Get discounts for your stay in other hostels.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Beginner English or Beginner Spanish

Between 18 and 75 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

Helping maintain this space is a chance to connect deeply with the forest, hike to private waterfalls, and contribute to preserving the magic of this ecological retreat. 🏞

Travelers will be given opportunities for scuba diving out of Fajardo as appreciation for efforts and dedication! 🤿


Activities & Shift

Volunteers help with a variety of daily tasks, with flexibility.
Needs here are updating guest rooms and common areas with paint, cleaning and small repairs, painting furniture, maintaining trails down to private waterfalls and swimming holes.
25 hours per week, 2 days off.


Rules

This is a smoke-free property 🚭 that values peace and respect — we are in bed quite early and don’t want loud music disrupting guests, especially at night, to ensure a restful environment for everyone.
