Teach English & Experience Rural Thai Farm Life


The experience

We’re seeking volunteers who are passionate about teaching, nature, and cultural exchange! At Ramoon Farmstay, you’ll have the opportunity to teach English to local high school students at a small countryside school and assist with light gardening or community activities on our peaceful farm.

This role is ideal for kind, patient travelers who enjoy slow living, connecting with locals, and sharing knowledge in a friendly, relaxing environment.


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 5 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: We are a small family and don’t have enough resources to fully cover food and living costs, so this fee helps us provide a welcoming experience for volunteers.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely


Requirements

Intermediate English

Between 20 and 60 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

At Ramoon Farmstay, located in Surin, Thailand, I, Teacher Pom, welcome volunteers who love nature, culture, and meaningful exchange.
Our small farm is surrounded by trees and open space — a peaceful place to learn, share, and grow together.

Join the Ramoon Farmstay Volunteer Program and experience authentic rural Thai life. This program combines English teaching, community engagement, and farm activities in a peaceful countryside setting. What You Will Do:

Teach English: Help local high school students improve their English skills through fun and engaging activities.

Participate in School Activities: Join various school programs.

Farm & Community Work: Assist with light gardening and farm tasks.

Cultural & Mindfulness Activities: Learn meditation, mindfulness, and local customs from the community.

Schedule & Workload:

Approximately 4–5 hours per day

4 days: School activities and English teaching

1 day: Meditation and community volunteering activities

Activities & Shift

🏫 School Teaching and Activities
Morning (06:30–07:30)
• Have breakfast together
• Water the plants or do light gardening

Late Morning (08:00–12:00)
• 08:00–08:30 Participate in morning flag ceremony at school
• 09:00–12:00 Join classroom activities, such as English conversation or cultural exchange

Midday (12:00–13:00)
• Have lunch and take a rest

Afternoon (13:00–17:00)
• 13:00–14:30 Help prepare activities or workshops
• 14:30–15:00 Reflect and share experiences
• Assist with planting vegetables, cleaning the garden, or taking care of the surrounding area

Evening (17:00–20:00)
• Have dinner together and engage in cultural exchange
• Water plants or help with cleaning
• On some days, visit local markets or participate in community activities

🕊️ Meditation and Community Volunteer Activities (choose 1 day per week)
• Meditation and mindfulness – practice calming the mind and staying present
• Temple cleaning – cultivate volunteer spirit and selflessness
• Temple maintenance – help repair or organize temple areas
• Participate in morning almsgiving – learn about Buddhism and Thai culture
• Dhamma discussion – exchange spiritual insights with monks
• Join temple community projects – engage in local community and temple activities

🌿 Working Days and Hours
⏰ About 4–5 hours per day (flexible depending on activities and weather)
🕊️ 1–2 days off per week for rest, travel, or exploring Surin city

Rules

Please read our simple rules to help keep our home warm and peaceful for everyone.

1. Respect local culture and people.
Please dress modestly, speak politely, and be kind to everyone — especially local students and elders.

2. Keep the place clean.
Everyone helps clean up after meals and keeps their room and shared spaces tidy.

3. No drugs or illegal activities.
Alcohol in moderation is okay, but please be respectful and responsible.

4. Quiet hours after 9:00 PM.
We live in a peaceful village. Let’s keep the noise low at night.

5. Help as a team.
Be flexible — sometimes the schedule changes depending on weather or activities.

6. Take care of tools and equipment.
Please use everything carefully and put things back after use.

7. Respect nature.
Don’t litter, don’t waste water, and treat animals kindly.

8. Communication is important.
If you have any problems or ideas, please talk to Teacher Pom — we can always find a solution together. 💬

9. Inform us before leaving the area.
If you plan to go out of the farm or stay overnight elsewhere, please let Teacher Pom know in advance for safety reasons.

10. Meal contribution:
We ask for a small contribution of 500 THB per person per day, which includes meals and accommodation.
