What you offer

16 hours of help per week

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Elderly Care: Assisting and spending time with the elderly.

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 20 Per day

Fee pays for: Donation to project

Description: As a charitable organization, Nego Foundation asks volunteers to contribute $20/day. This fee directly supports our community projects in education, agriculture, clean water, and social impact. Your contribution ensures your time makes a real difference, helping build a better future. We are fully transparent about how donations are used.

Program Description – Medical Internship/Volunteer Program

The Medical Internship and Volunteer Program in Malawi provides students, interns, and volunteers with the opportunity to gain practical experience in healthcare while supporting underserved communities. The program focuses on clinical support, community health outreach, patient education, and healthcare administration.

Participants work alongside experienced medical professionals in hospitals, clinics, and community health programs, contributing to the delivery of quality healthcare services. The program also emphasizes public health awareness, preventive care, and health education, empowering communities to adopt healthier lifestyles.

Through hands-on involvement, volunteers and interns gain valuable medical and professional skills, cultural insights, and a deeper understanding of healthcare challenges in rural and urban Malawi. Activities & Shift



Activities & Shifts – Medical Internship/Volunteer Program

Activities:
Participants will engage in a range of healthcare-related tasks and community initiatives, including:

1. Clinical Support: Assist medical staff with basic patient care, routine examinations, and medical procedures under supervision.


2. Community Health Outreach: Participate in health campaigns, vaccination drives, and wellness programs in local communities.


3. Patient Education: Support programs that teach hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices.


4. Administrative Assistance: Help with medical records, reporting, and coordination of healthcare initiatives.


5. Observation & Learning: Observe medical procedures and gain insights into healthcare practices and challenges in Malawi.



Shifts:

Morning Shift: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Special Projects / Weekend Activities: Flexible schedule based on community needs or medical campaigns


Volunteers may rotate between different activities to gain broad experience. All activities are supervised by trained medical professionals to ensure safety, learning, and effective contribution.

To ensure a safe, respectful, and productive environment for both participants and communities, the following rules apply:

1. Respect Local Culture: Treat patients, community members, staff, and fellow volunteers with respect. Follow local customs and hospital protocols.


2. Punctuality & Attendance: Arrive on time for all shifts, activities, and meetings. Consistent participation is required.


3. Professional Conduct: Maintain a positive, professional, and cooperative attitude at all times. Avoid behavior that could harm patients, staff, or the program’s reputation.


4. Safety & Hygiene: Follow all safety, hygiene, and medical protocols. Report any accidents, hazards, or emergencies immediately.


5. Confidentiality: Respect patient privacy and confidentiality. Do not share medical records, personal information, or images without consent.


6. Substance Use: Alcohol, drugs, or illegal substances are strictly prohibited during program activities and on program premises.


7. Teamwork & Collaboration: Work cooperatively with staff, fellow volunteers, and community members to achieve program goals.


8. Commitment: Fully participate in all assigned tasks and activities to maximize your impact and learning experience.


9. Feedback & Communication: Share concerns, suggestions, or challenges with program staff promptly for resolution.


10. Ethical Practice: Ensure all interactions with patients and communities are ethical, compassionate, and culturally sensitive.
