Make an Impact in Rural Malawi

Join us in rural Malawi and take part in community projects that create real change. Contribute to initiatives in education, health, women and youth empowerment, and environmental sustainability while working directly with local communities.

Your involvement helps build stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.


What you offer

18 hours of help per week

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Arts: Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Program Details

Program Description – Nego Foundation Community Projects

The Nego Foundation Community Program in Malawi is designed to empower rural communities through hands-on social initiatives. The program focuses on education, healthcare, women and youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, and community development.

Participants will actively engage with local communities, collaborating on projects that address social challenges while promoting equality, skill-building, and self-reliance. Volunteers gain practical experience in social work, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and contribute to initiatives that create lasting change.

This program not only benefits communities but also provides participants with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Malawian culture, build meaningful connections, and make a tangible impact.


Activities & Shift

Activities & Shifts – Nego Foundation Community Program

Activities:
Participants will engage in a variety of community-focused initiatives, including:

1. Community Outreach: Supporting local awareness campaigns in health, education, and empowerment.


2. Education Support: Assisting in schools, mentoring children, and organizing learning activities.


3. Healthcare Initiatives: Helping in clinics, health campaigns, and wellness workshops.


4. Women & Youth Empowerment: Conducting skill-building sessions, workshops, and awareness programs.


5. Environmental Projects: Tree planting, clean-up drives, and promoting sustainable practices.


6. Cultural Exchange: Participating in community events and learning local customs.



Shifts:

Morning Shift: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Special Projects / Weekend Activities: Flexible schedule based on project needs


Participants may rotate between activities to gain broad experience. All activities are supervised by experienced staff to ensure safety, learning, and meaningful impact.

To ensure a safe, respectful, and productive environment for all participants and communities, the following rules apply:

1. Respect Local Culture: Treat all community members, staff, and fellow participants with respect. Follow local customs and traditions.


2. Punctuality & Attendance: Arrive on time for all shifts, activities, and meetings. Regular attendance is required.


3. Professional Conduct: Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude at all times. Avoid behavior that could harm the program’s reputation or community trust.


4. Safety First: Follow all safety instructions. Report accidents, hazards, or emergencies immediately.


5. Confidentiality: Respect the privacy of community members. Do not share personal information or images without consent.


6. Substance Use: Alcohol, drugs, or illegal substances are strictly prohibited during program activities and on program premises.


7. Teamwork & Collaboration: Work cooperatively with staff, fellow participants, and community members.


8. Environmental Care: Avoid littering and participate actively in environmental and sustainability initiatives.


9. Feedback & Communication: Share concerns or suggestions openly with program staff to improve experiences and outcomes.


10. Commitment: Fully participate in activities and projects to maximize your impact and learning experience.
