Experience and Impact Rural Malawi

Join us in Malawi to make a real difference in rural communities. Engage in meaningful social work that empowers women and youth, supports education and healthcare, and promotes sustainable development.

Through hands-on projects, you’ll experience the vibrant culture and daily life of rural Malawi while creating lasting positive change.


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Program Details

Program Description – Nego Foundation Social Work Program

The Nego Foundation Social Work Program in Malawi is designed to create meaningful impact in rural communities through hands-on social initiatives. The program focuses on education, health, women and youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, and community development.

Participants will actively engage with local communities, collaborating on projects that address pressing social challenges while promoting equality, skill-building, and self-reliance. Volunteers gain practical experience in social work, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and contribute to initiatives that create lasting change.

This program not only empowers communities but also offers participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Malawian culture, build strong connections, and make a tangible difference in the lives of those they serve.





Activities & Shift



Activities & Shifts – Nego Foundation Social Work Program

Activities:
Participants will be involved in a variety of meaningful community-focused activities, including:

1. Community Outreach: Engaging with local communities to support health awareness, education, and empowerment initiatives.


2. Education Support: Assisting in schools, mentoring children, and organizing learning activities.


3. Health Initiatives: Supporting local clinics, health campaigns, and wellness workshops.


4. Women & Youth Empowerment: Conducting workshops, skill-building sessions, and awareness programs.


5. Environmental Projects: Tree planting, clean-up drives, and promoting sustainable practices.


6. Cultural Exchange: Participating in community events and learning local customs to strengthen connections.



Shifts:

Morning Shift: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Special Projects / Weekend Activities: Flexible schedule based on project needs and community events

Rules & Guidelines – Nego Foundation Social Work Program

To ensure a safe, respectful, and productive environment for all participants and communities, the following rules apply:

1. Respect Local Culture: Treat all community members, staff, and fellow participants with respect. Follow local customs, traditions, and guidelines.


2. Punctuality & Attendance: Arrive on time for all shifts, activities, and meetings. Regular attendance is expected.


3. Professional Conduct: Maintain a positive, professional, and cooperative attitude at all times. Avoid behavior that could harm the reputation of the program or the community.


4. Safety First: Follow all safety instructions provided by program staff. Report any accidents, hazards, or emergencies immediately.


5. Confidentiality: Respect the privacy of individuals and communities you work with. Do not share personal information or images without consent.


6. Substance Use: Alcohol, drugs, or any illegal substances are strictly prohibited during program activities and on program premises.


7. Teamwork & Collaboration: Work cooperatively with fellow participants, staff, and community members. Support each other to achieve program goals.


8. Environment Care: Respect the environment. Avoid littering and actively participate in sustainability initiatives.


9. Feedback & Communication: Share concerns or suggestions openly with program staff to improve experiences and outcomes.


10. Commitment: Fully participate in activities and projects to maximize your impact and learning experience.
