Volunteer for Eco and Community development projects in Sri Lanka


The experience

Come join our efforts to improve daily life and care for the environment in rural Sri Lanka. You’ll take part in clean-ups, tree planting, home-garden projects, and school renovations while working side by side with local residents. Each project is shaped by the community’s real needs, creating meaningful change and shared pride in every action.


What you offer

5 hours of help per day

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Arts: Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 15 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers and Materials for volunteer activities

Description: Volunteers contribute 15 US per day to cover accommodation, meals, and transport.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely

Serenity Lanka supports community development and environmental sustainability initiatives that improve living conditions and promote awareness across rural and estate areas. Activities & Shift

Daily Activities

-Participate in community gardening and tree-planting activities.
-Help with clean-up and recycling awareness campaigns.
-Assist in minor renovation or maintenance projects for schools and community spaces.
-Support educational sessions on environmental awareness and sustainability.

Volunteers usually work 5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with weekends free for rest or local exploration. Activities are hands-on and may vary depending on community needs and ongoing projects.


Rules

Be respectful, open-minded, and adaptable.
Attend orientation sessions and daily check-ins with the Serenity Lanka team.
Avoid alcohol or drug use during working hours or at project locations.
Dress modestly and appropriately for community settings.
Notify coordinators in advance if you are unable to attend a shift or activity.
