Empower local moms & kids in Tacloban to fight malnutrition and boost food security!
As a Worldpacker, you will be the core collaborator in the Community Feeding Project. Your contribution will have a direct impact on the health of up to 35 local pre-school children.
What you offer

Description:
$950 USD per 2 weeks
$120 USD per week thereafter
The fee covers the comprehensive program costs necessary for a meaningful and safe social experience: Airport Reception, Homestay Accommodation with a local family, 2 Meals a day (Breakfast and Dinner), Program Orientation, Waray Waray language lessons, and 24-hour Local Staff Support.

Program Details
As a Worldpacker, you will be the core collaborator in the Community Feeding Project. Your contribution will have a direct impact on the health of up to 35 local pre-school children.
We expect a proactive, committed, and positive attitude. You should be ready to fully immerse yourself in local life with your host family and be a culturally respectful partner. You should expect to spend your hours planning, budgeting, and delivering educational workshops to local mothers. This position requires a strong focus on long-term solutions for food security, such as investigating community feeding kitchens and self-sustainability plans.

Activities & Shift
Activities:
- Plan and prepare supplementary feeding menus for pre-school children.
- Monitor and analyze clientele growth data (e.g., child weight/height tracking).
- Budgeting and purchasing for the Community Feeding Project.
- Organize interactive seminars and workshops with local mothers on nutrition.
- Investigate and implement long-term solutions for food security (e.g., community feeding kitchens).
- Education and advocacy efforts to change attitudes toward consuming less salt and sugar and more vegetables.
Shifts:
- Hours: 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday (minimum 20 hours per week).
- Schedule: 08:00 AM – 12 Noon. The afternoons are free for language lessons, preparation, or exploration.
Rules
Visa: Volunteers are required to apply for and secure their own travel visa to the Philippines.
Program Location: You will be staying in the general Tacloban City area, and the specific homestay location will be assigned after trip confirmation.
Cultural Respect: You will be living in a local family homestay; respect for house rules, local customs, and host family traditions is paramount.
Diet: The project emphasizes healthy eating; adherence to specific dietary restrictions (vegetarian, allergies) must be cleared before confirmation.
