The experience

Join Spring River, a community-based NGO with its head office in Ilboru, Arusha, and rice farms in Korogwe, Tanga and other farms in various places across the country. Volunteer in sustainable farming, education, and rural development. $15/day covers accommodation, internet, and laundry. Profits support school repair and community investments across Tanzania.


What you offer

3 hours of help per day

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 15 Per day

Fee pays for: Materials for volunteer activities

What you get

1 day off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.

Discounts on Accommodation: Get discounts for your stay in other hostels.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Parties: Get free entrance for the best parties in town.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Dance classes: Take free dance classes at our place.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Holistic Therapies: You can take part in any of our therapeutic activities for free.

Permaculture Course: Take part in our Permaculture course for free.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely

Fluent English or Fluent Swahili

Program Details

🧩 Program Description

Spring River is a community-based NGO with its head office in Ilboru, Arusha. Our volunteers support sustainable farming and education projects across Tanzania.
You’ll mainly help at our 5-acre rice farm to expand to 20-acre in Korogwe, Tanga while staying at our homestay in Arusha.
A $15 daily contribution covers accommodation, internet, and laundry. Profits from our farms help build/repair schools and support local communities


Activities & Shift

🌱 Activities & Shifts

Volunteers work about 4–5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
Typical activities include:

Planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting rice

Organizing seeds and farm tools

Teaching English or sharing creative skills with local youth

Assisting with homestay maintenance or community events
Weekends are free for rest or exploring Arusha, Moshi, or nearby cultural sites.
