We’re looking for a friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to join our cozy cafĂ© team. Experience in hospitality is a plus, but not essential — what matters most is your positive attitude and willingness to learn!

This role is ideal for anyone who loves teamwork, wants to improve their English or Japanese, and enjoys being part of a fast-paced, community-oriented space. 🌿

What you offer

24 hours of help per week

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

What you get

3 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Holistic Therapies: You can take part in any of our therapeutic activities for free.

Requirements

Intermediate English or Beginner Japanese

Between 18 and 50 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

Our café is a lively and friendly place serving delicious food and great coffee. We value teamwork, learning, and sharing knowledge. Volunteers help with kitchen prep, serving, cleaning, and creating a great experience for our guests.

You’ll have the chance to learn directly from a seasoned hospitality professional, gaining insight into food presentation, customer service, and cafĂ© management — all while experiencing Japanese culture from the inside out. đŸ‡ŻđŸ‡”â˜•

Activities & Shift

You’ll be working alongside an experienced Chef with over 50 years in leading hotels and restaurants across Europe and Australasia — a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills in a real cafĂ© environment.

Your main tasks will include helping in both kitchen and front-of-house service, ensuring guests enjoy the warm, welcoming atmosphere that our café is known for.

As it will be winter here we will be needing help with clearing snow from the cafe pathways.


🕒 Typical shifts:

Thursday: 9.00AM – 3:00 PM
Friday: 9am AM – 3:00 PM
Saturday: 9 AM - 3.00 PM
Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

You’ll have free time to explore the area, relax, or enjoy cultural activities during the week. Hire vehicles are available locally. A number of ski resorts are 20 min drive.
