The experience

Participants will capture Lombok’s surf culture through creative photo and video storytelling in Kuta, Ekas, and Sekotong. They’ll help launch our first digital campaigns, inspiring donors to support Embrace the Waves, a surf and swim program for local youth and women. Stay with local families, enjoy surf lessons, and collaborate with surfers and community groups while exploring Indonesia’s best waves.


What you offer

18 hours of help per week

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 55 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: The $55/day fee covers homestay accommodation with a local family, 3x meals, surf training, and access to our trusted surf network. We maintain full transparency—no hidden costs. Your contribution also supports our initiative, which provides swimming and surfing lessons for local youth and women. Every dollar directly sustains community programs while offering you an authentic surf experience in Lombok.

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Description:
As a social enterprise in Indonesia, we dedicated to community empowerment through surfing and environmental education. Our flagship initiative, Embrace the Waves, provides free surf and swim lessons for local youth and women to promote water safety, confidence, and inclusion.
Through this program, Surf, Snap & Inspire, we invite backpackers to help us tell our story, by creating digital content that connects our ocean conservation and social impact work with a global audience.
Your creativity will help raise awareness, inspire donors, and build a sustainable foundation for our grassroots programs, all while you enjoy surfing Lombok’s world-class waves and immersing yourself in local life.
This experience offers an exciting opportunity for content creators, surfers, and storytellers to combine adventure, purpose, and creativity in one meaningful journey.

General Information:
This program is ideal for travelers who want to develop their storytelling and digital media skills while contributing to an impactful grassroots movement. You’ll surf, document, and create social media content that brings visibility to our community-based initiatives. Your contribution directly supports our Embrace the Waves classes, equipment for youth, and women’s empowerment through ocean sports.


Activities & Shift

Day 1 – Arrival & Orientation
Upon arrival, meet the local team and join an orientation on storytelling goals, ethical content creation, and community engagement. Depending on arrival time, breakfast or lunch is served, followed by a short village tour and sunset gathering with your host family.

Mandatory: Join mangrove planting, teach English at Bagek Kembar, or help create a stingless bee colony. Scooter rental available upon request.

• No surfing, filming, or drone use under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Use equipment responsibly; report any damage immediately.
• Always credit us when posting official program content.
• Maintain a positive, respectful attitude toward fellow participants and locals.
• Keep digital content ethical—avoid sensitive or exploitative imagery.
• Be punctual for activities and communicate any schedule changes in advance.
• Scooter use requires a valid international driver’s license and helmet at all times.
• We reserves the right to restrict participation if rules or safety standards are not met.
Code of Conduct
• Embrace local customs and traditions. Treat host families, instructors, and community members with courtesy and openness.
• Help keep beaches, villages, and marine areas clean. Avoid littering, wasting water, or disturbing wildlife. Always prioritize sustainability in your daily actions.
• Create authentic, respectful, and positive content. Always seek consent before filming or photographing individuals, especially children. Avoid sensational or misleading portrayals of local life.
• Work cooperatively with other participants and local partners. Share ideas and assist one another in achieving shared storytelling goals.
• Representus responsibly online. Avoid sharing content that misrepresents the program, the community, or Indonesia. Respect intellectual property and always credit collaborators.
• Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and reliability throughout the program. Substance abuse, harassment, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
• Follow all surf, travel, and filming safety guidelines.
