The experience

We have a beautiful 5-acre property & egg farm 🐓 with many gardens.
Our home is in a peaceful rural area called Metchosin, on Vancouver Island, about a 40-minute drive from Victoria.

We’re looking for help with garden cleanup and landscaping 🌱.
Most of the work involves weeding, raking, pruning, and removing blackberry bushes.
We do most of the chicken care ourselves, but occasionally there may be light animal chores 🐔

Program Details

We ask for 4 hours of help in the mornings, leaving the rest of the day free to explore, relax, or enjoy the trails and beaches around Metchosin.

Our family setup:
🏡 I live in one house with my children.
🌸 My mother Helen and her partner Wayne live in the other — your accommodation will be there.
🚗 Between the three of us, we can offer occasional rides depending on our schedules, and there are bicycles available as well as limited bus service nearby.

We usually share dinners together, while breakfast and lunch are self-serve. You’ll have access to a private fridge for your own snacks.

Activities & Shift

We’re early risers! 🌅

Helen gets up at 5:00 a.m. and leaves for work at 6:30 a.m.
In winter, it’s dark until about 8:00 a.m., so shifts are usually 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
In summer, it’s light by 6:00 a.m., so shifts can be 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

We have Wi-Fi for streaming movies or staying connected 💻.

I work from home most days.

Wayne is retired but exploring new projects and a second career.
The children are in school from September to June.
