Program Details

Do you love telling stories through your camera? At Soweto Youth Initiative, we believe every child has a story worth sharing. In the heart of Kahawa Soweto slums, you’ll capture the resilience, joy, and daily struggles of children and youth who are part of our programs. Your photos and videos will help SYI document memories, inspire global supporters, and attract more volunteers. You’ll also have the chance to run small photography lessons with local kids, giving them the skills to tell their own stories through images.

Activities & Shift

Take photos and videos of children during lessons, sports, feeding programs, and community events.

Edit and organize content for SYI’s social media and website.

Create short stories or reels showcasing community life.

Teach basic photography or mobile phone photography to interested children.

Document volunteer experiences to share with future applicants.
