The experience

We're an Irish/French couple with a baby boy (Lorcan) and our project is an eco-renovation of a little, old house for our new little family.

Currently we live in a studio apartment in a cave while renovating the house.

Both of us are self-employed electricians, with different backgrounds (Philosophy for Myriam, Civil Engineering for Carlo) but our love of nature and the environment is the constant in our lives.

Program Details

We're eco-renovating a small house (with caves!) and we have the use of another little house 2 doors up the street to lodge our guests/volunteers.
Unfortunately we're not a good choice for digital nomads - there is no internet access in the 'guest house' and because we live in a studio apartment there is not much space for someone to work online from our place. But there is still, as the listing says, basic internet :-)

In our experience mealtimes are a great time to socialise and get to know one another, as well as exchanging culturally.

As a result volunteers usually participate in houshold tasks like helping with preparing meals, washing-up afterwards, etc.

It's not everyone, all the time, but it does make a big difference when we all share the load!

In short we hope for you to become a happy part of our home for the time you are with us, and whenever you return in the future!

Activities & Shift

Ideally we would like you to help for about 20 hours per week. Preferably for 4 hours, 5 days a week, but we're always open to discussing other arrangements.

Besides taking care of our little man the other tasks with which we might need help are many and varied - it all depends on how far along we are with our renovation when you're here.
Don't be afraid to ask what we're currently doing and what we think we'll be doing during your desired period with us.

Rules

It's not a labour camp or a frat house here, so ordinary, respectful common sense and open communication are the rules we try to live by.

No smoking indoors, no drugs on site, no working drunk, no naked sunbathing on the roof, etc... basic common sense.
