Program Details

We start the day with breakfast and then move on to daily chores.
We have 30 free-roaming bison on 160 acres, with about 60% of the land in light timber, so fire mitigation is ongoing — limbing, thinning, and burning wood piles when weather permits.
Fence maintenance is done as needed.
You’ll also help with babysitting a 5-month-old bison and assisting with feeding the herd when necessary.

Activities & Shift

We begin the day with breakfast at 8am (cooked or cereal and toast), then start chores at 9am.
Lunch is around noon, and we usually finish around 3pm.

Tilly’s shift:
Tilly, our bottle-fed bison, needs feeding every 4 hours throughout the night, on a rotation between you and the other worker.

Other duties include cleaning all windows (inside and out) for maximum solar gain, making sure everything is put away and serviced, and preparing garden furniture for winter.

When weather allows, we enjoy campfires 🔥 and games nights if you’re interested.
