The experience

​Join our team to help improve the health and well-being of the elderly in our community! We are looking for a caring and energetic volunteer to assist with our exercise and mobility programs. Your role will involve guiding our elderly beneficiaries through simple, gentle exercises to improve their balance, flexibility, and strength.


What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Elderly Care: Assisting and spending time with the elderly.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 20 Per day

Fee pays for: Donation to project

Description: ​Your donation to the King David Geriatric Center is a direct investment in the health and dignity of elderly Malawians. It allows us to provide all of our services completely free of charge, ensuring every elderly person receives the care they deserve, regardless of their financial situation.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely


Requirements

Beginner English and Intermediate English

Between 18 and 50 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers


What's not included

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa


Program Details

Our volunteer program is designed to support our mission of providing free, compassionate care to the elderly in Malawi. Volunteers are essential members of our team, helping us deliver vital services directly to our beneficiaries in their homes and communities. This experience isn't just about helping; it's about connecting with a community, learning about Malawian culture, and making a real, positive impact on the lives of our elders.


Activities & Shift

Our volunteers help in the mornings, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., totaling about 20 hours per week. With your afternoons and two days a week completely free, you’ll have plenty of time to connect with nature, explore the area, or simply unwind.


Rules

​We expect volunteers to show respect and compassion toward all beneficiaries and community members.
​A positive and proactive attitude is essential, as some tasks may be physically demanding.
​We ask that you communicate any issues or concerns directly with the team.
​We have a strict non-smoking policy inside our working area.
