The experience

Join our team at Sugar Hostel Weligama, just steps away from the beach! We’re looking for a friendly volunteer to help at reception with guest check-ins, check-outs, and sharing local tips. It’s the perfect opportunity to practice hospitality, meet travelers from around the world, and enjoy the laid-back surf culture of Weligama.

What you offer

5 hours of help per day

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Program Details

Sugar Hostel Weligama is a relaxed, social hostel where travelers come to surf, chill, and connect. As part of our reception team, you’ll help create a welcoming environment for our guests. You’ll support check-ins and check-outs, answer guest questions, and provide tips about Weligama’s beaches, surf spots, and local culture.

Activities & Shift

• Welcome and check-in/check-out guests
• Provide information about the hostel, tours, and Weligama area
• Assist with reservations and basic reception tasks
• Work in shifts (around 4–6 hours per day, 5 days per week)

Rules

• Be friendly, approachable, and reliable with guests
• Show up on time for shifts and communicate well with the team
• Keep the reception area tidy and organized
• Basic English required (other languages are a plus)
• Minimum stay: 3 weeks preferred
