Program Details

Volunteers at Agger Hostel join us to help prepare the hostel for the busy summer season. You will work on hands-on projects such as gardening, painting, decorating, small repairs, and even room renovations. Tasks are assigned according to your skills and experience, with guidance provided as needed.

Volunteers live on-site in shared dorms and receive three meals a day. Bikes are available for exploring the area, and laundry service is included. The program is ideal for motivated, practical people who enjoy seeing tangible results from their work and want to contribute to a friendly and welcoming environment.

Work hours are flexible but typically focus on daytime tasks. This period, from 1 April to mid-June, is chosen because rooms are available for volunteers, and it allows for larger projects without interfering with guest stays.

Activities & Shift

Daily Activities for this Position:
Volunteers at Agger Hostel help prepare the hostel for the summer season. Daily activities may include:

Gardening: weeding, planting, trimming, and maintaining outdoor areas

Painting and decorating rooms, common areas, or other spaces

Small repairs, such as fixing furniture, doors, or fixtures

Room renovations, including cleaning, painting, and decorating

Assisting with general hostel organization and preparation for guests

Work typically takes place during daytime hours. Schedules are flexible to accommodate volunteer availability, but most work is done during the day. Volunteers are encouraged to take short breaks and enjoy the surrounding nature during downtime.

Rules

Volunteers are expected to work responsibly and follow instructions for each task.

Physical tasks such as gardening, painting, and repairs must be done safely and carefully.

Volunteers should be punctual, motivated, and committed to their scheduled shifts.

Respect for other volunteers, guests, and hostel property is mandatory.

Keep your living area and shared spaces clean and tidy.

Communication in English is required, both for instructions and teamwork.

Volunteers should be aware of the local environment: public transport is limited, the weather can be unpredictable, and there is no nightlife on site.

This is a hands-on program; we expect volunteers to give full effort and take pride in their work.

In Denmark, it is mandatory for volunteers from outside the EU to have a valid work visa.

If a volunteer’s participation is ended early by the hostel, they are welcome to stay until they find alternative arrangements, but meals will no longer be provided.
