This experience was really special. You get as close as possible to living a local life in Nairobi and truly see different sides of life here. I spent 2 weeks here, and gained so much knowledge about life in the slums and in Nairobi. I had so many great experiences and made wonderful friendships. I can really recommend this if you are looking for an authentic experience of life in Kenya

My time volunteering with SYI was stimulating, memorable, and extremely enjoyable. Helping out at the organisation, the hospital, and the local schools is an authentic, eye opening experience which is challenging, albeit rewarding. I'm grateful to have met and shared my time with numerous fellow travellers from all over the world. Big thank you to Joshua (and rest of the team), he is really caring, understanding and works hard to ensure the best experience for the volunteers. I would highly recommend the project, it is a big family!!

My experience as a volunteer with SYI organization was amazing ! The children are so sweet and affectionate, spending time with them was an absolute joy. The activities are really varied (English, art, music, sports, ITโ€ฆ) and you can also bring your own ideas, the association is very flexible and supportive. I stayed in the volunteer's house which was clean and comfortable. Joan took such good care of us, preparing breakfast every morning and delicious African dish in the evening. I recommend this experience to anyone who wants to live something authentic and truly impactful.

My stay at SYI in Kahawa West was truly eye-opening. Living and working in the heart of the slum allowed me to see life from a new perspective. The community and the kids are super kind and welcoming. The SYI team welcomed me with open arms and I felt supported and included from day one. I also had an amazing time with the other volunteers . We shared meaningful experiences, laughs and memories I'll carry with me for a long time. If you're open-minded, flexible and want to grow personally while making a small impact, I can truly recommend this experience. I wish I could have stayed longer!

My experience in SYI was just incredible! The organization itself works very well, aiming to provide quality education and food supply to children in Kahawa West, Nairobi. They helped me with everything needed and were an amazing host for all of the volunteers! I would definetely recommend everyone to go volunteer with SYI, it was a pleasure!

My experience with SYI was nothing else than amazing! From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this NGO is doing incredible meaningful work in the heart of the project slums. Their commitment to uplifting children and families through education, health and community engagement is truly inspiring. I had the opportunity to work alongside the team in the public and private school, local health centre and at the heart of it all the SYI community centre. It was an absolute honour to support their mission and contribute to this movement of positive change and would recommend it to all!

We stayed for 2 weeks at SYI! This was a life-changing experience! From the very beginning we felt at homeโ€”thank you Joshua and team! During at our stay, we had the chance to help out in different areas: at SYI itself, at both public and private schools, and even at the health centre. Each place gave us a different perspective and taught us so much! It felt amazing to support the local community in various ways. Our accommodation was very comfortable and a special shoutout goes to Ruth who spoiled us with her delicious cooking. We love to come back! Asante sana SYI family!

The project was my first experience in Africa, and I'm so glad that it made such a great first impression! Joshua was a very communicative and kind host, the accommodation and food was amazing, and I learned so much about life in the slum and how a little money, time, and love really can go a long way for a lot of these people. I got to help out in the local public and private schools, the medical centre where I helped perform checkups on babies, and the slum where I got to play with the kids and even lead a mental health talk! A lot of stuff to do, so a great experience for anyone!

My time at SYI was really great! Their commitment to provide a better life for the kids and the people in the slum is deeply significant. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ My day schedule was very ballanced, you have a good time focused on the project, as well as you have enough free time to relax, explore or do things on your own. I am especially amazed by the local staff who contribute with all their passions and gifts, to keep this place running.. The boys there (Toni, Sanches, John, Sam) are truly a vibe โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜€ and I will miss them. Hope to be back here !!
