The experience

We have a stud farm, breeding and training Connemara Ponies! They are a very special native breed and are in high demand around the world. We have several young ponies who have been broken and riding and need further schooling from an experienced horse rider/trainer. We are located in a beautiful part of Ireland on the west coast and the beach is your schooling ground!

What you offer

30 hours of help per week

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Intermediate English

Over 18 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Horsecare and working with youngstock on our family farm.

Activities & Shift

Your work will include daily stable chores, mucking out, grooming, feeding, tacking up and riding ponies. Ground work is also part of their training and learning manners which you will teach them.

Rules

There is a necessary height and weight limit for this role:
No taller than 5'7 and 10st.
They are 14.2/148cm ponies.
