The experience

Help with horse care (feeding, grooming, mucking out, groundwork) and support farm life through gardening, planting, pruning, composting, and land maintenance. Join small building or repair projects, assist with irrigation, fences, and painting, and contribute creatively to outdoor art and community spaces. Flexibility, positivity, and love for nature are key!


What you offer

28 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Intermediate English

Between 25 and 75 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

We are looking for motivated and reliable volunteers who would like to support us on our coliving farm in central Portugal. Life here is simple, natural, and full of variety. Each day brings new activities depending on the season, the land, and the animals. Below you can find the main areas where we need help.

Horse Care & Horsemanship

-Feeding horses and making sure they have clean water
-Grooming and giving daily care and attention
-Cleaning stables and paddocks (mucking out)
-Leading horses, basic handling, and groundwork exercises
-Building trust with the animals


Farm & Land Maintenance

-Weeding, clearing, and maintaining the vegetable garden
-Planting and watering trees, bushes, and plants
-Pruning and seasonal care of trees and vines
-Removing invasive plants and keeping paths clear
-Supporting fire-prevention measures in summer months
-General land work such as digging, mulching, and composting


Building & Practical Projects

-Helping with small construction and repair tasks
-Assisting in setting up or improving water systems and irrigation
-Painting, sanding, and maintaining farm structures
-Building fences, shelters, or storage areas as needed
-Supporting eco-projects like compost toilets or natural building


Creative & Community Projects

-Creating outdoor art pieces and installations for the farm
-Designing and building creative corners or resting spaces
-Helping with community areas: keeping them organized, clean, and welcoming
-Bringing in your own artistic skills such as painting, sculpture, or crafts
-Supporting activities that make the space beautiful, inspiring, and alive

The work depends on the skills an experiences of the volunteers, someone who can perform tasks independently is desired.

We will always discuss together what is possible.


Rules

Drugs and other substances are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate removal from the premises and termination of your stay, regardless of the time. Alcohol may only be consumed in very small quantities, with a maximum of two drinks. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the accommodations and will result in termination of your stay. Smoking is permitted in designated areas, and cigarettes must not be left behind. Waste must be disposed of in designated areas. Water and shower time must be used responsibly. Heating must never be left unattended. Work is always discussed, and hours and work performed are accounted for. Safety regulations must be observed. The accommodation must be left as found, clean, and nothing must be removed.
