🌿 Help us taking care of wildlife in the Amazon! 🐒🦜
The experience
Volunteers at RAREC play an active role in wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation education.
Volunteers help prepare balanced diets for rescued animals (including primates, birds, reptiles, and other species), feed them according to their specific needs, and ensure they receive proper nutrition. They also assist with cleaning and maintaining enclosures to keep habitats safe and hygienic. Additionally, volunteers support enrichment.

Program Details
Animal Care: Volunteers are deeply involved in the daily care of rescued wildlife. In the nursery, this includes preparing specialized diets such as milk formulas and soft foods for infant primates, baby birds, and other young animals, bottle-feeding when needed, monitoring weight and health, cleaning incubators and small enclosures, and providing gentle enrichment to stimulate natural development.
For animals in exterior enclosures, volunteers help prepare and deliver food in ways that encourage natural foraging behaviors, clean and maintain larger habitats to ensure safety and hygiene, and assist in designing and carrying out enrichment activities. These may include building climbing structures, hiding food for exploration, or creating sensory activities that keep the animals active and mentally stimulated while they progress through rehabilitation.
Through this work, volunteers play a direct role in ensuring rescued animals receive the nutrition, care, and stimulation they need to recover and eventually return to the wild whenever possible.
