Program Details

We're looking for someone to:
1) Work with us to create our events & campaigns to draw in guests
2) Take quality video & photos (both candid & event)
3) Be our public-facing & social media person (so I don't have to :P)
4) Use flyer design skills to give style to all the above (even if just in Canva!)

And if, for example, on one week these tasks took only 15 hours out of the 20 total, we have a MOC Board* of other things that can be done, such as sweeping common areas or the occasional mop, all organized by their assigned value and type. Also included on the MOC Board are our volunteer opportunities in the greater community!

(* MOC = Menú de Objectivos Comunitarios // Menu of Objectives for Community)

We value creativity, openness, and initiative. This is your chance to experiment, learn, and leave your mark in one of Guatemala’s most magical spots. 🌄✨

Activities & Shift

On any given day it might be:

- Posting our text & photos to different Facebook groups (we have a schedule for that)
- A creative meeting to plan our upcoming events, workshops & classes
- Helping with the design of our Community SHO (Schedule of Hosted Offerings)
- Take photos or video of a workshop or event happening that day
- Checking our social profiles to answer questions or forward urgent things on
- Bringing your own ideas for potential classes, events, workshops, experiences! (maybe even hosting your own, if you want to, no pressure :P)

Schedule:
⏰ 20 hours per week – flexible shifts
🌿 3 days off to explore Lake Atitlán, Mayan culture, and the beauty of Guatemala

Rules

1. We Give Respect & Generosity To All.
Peace is our responsibility, so when experiencing conflict* we expand our Capacity and Compassion by getting Creative, Curious & Communicative.

2. We Respect The Space.
a) Respect others' property and space 100% of the time.
b) Clean up and improve common spaces, so they're better than before you entered.
c) Do your dishes promptly! (Optional: do an extra 2-3 pieces, even if they're not yours!)
d) If you smoke, use the designated area and an ashtray (leave no trace!)

3. We Maintain A Ready & Orderly Kitchen.
Follow the kitchen rules, which support our kitchen remaining orderly, clean and always ready for use. These are taught upon arrival and posted, so that hopefully even the communal kitchen feels peaceful!

4. No Heavy Drugs, No Heavy Drinking.
At least not at the Colectivo-Hotel. San Pedro is known for its great party scene, so we offer something different--*an escape* whenever you or your friends need it! Here we'd rather be on the addiction-breaking side of things than the addiction-fueling side.

5. No Dogs (We Already Have 2)
Female dogs *may* be okay to live here if they prove very well-behaved.
NO DOGS IN ANY ROOMS OR IN THE KITCHEN. We have Chubbis and Flaka here, and they also follow these rules.

(* - Mediation between the conflicting parties is available, should any conflict not seem to have a resolution)
