Gardening and housekeeping volunteers

The experience

We are a family of 5 and don’t have enough time to keep on top of the gardening/outdoor maintenance, and help with keeping the house clean would be hugely appreciated. Outdoor jobs would be things like weeding, mulching around trees, cleaning the polytunnel, clearing vegetable beds, building new veggie beds, etc Inside our house we would mainly need regular cleans and deep cleans of the house in general.

Ideally, you are a couple.

What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely

Requirements

Beginner English or Beginner French

Between 21 and 65 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa

Program Details

We would like 5 hours of work per day (5 days a week) in return for staying in our wooden holiday cabin which is fully equipped and independent. The work involves mostly gardening (removing weeds, preparing vegetable beds, planting vegetables and plants, mulching around trees, pruning trees, etc), and we are planning to start a herbal tea production business, so we may need help with preparing the set up to grow the herbs. There is also some cleaning around the house available. We will let you choose whatever you would prefer doing, of course.

Activities & Shift

Please note you would be the only volunteer here, as we only have space for one volunteer at a time (or a couple). Other than the work on our land, there are footpaths in the forest on our doorstep. We are in a rural location, so without a car of your own there isn’t anywhere to go. We are happy to give lifts into town if you want to do your food shopping.

Rules

Because the cabin volunteers stay in is fully equipped and independent, they maintain their privacy and we keep our privacy in our home outside volunteering hours.
