Program Details
We are looking for a pair to come and stay with us long term ( ideally a few months). We would love to get to know you so you can become part of the family and really get to know the area and all it has to offer! This could be a great opportunity for digital nomads looking to spend the winter somewhere that you can do winter sports, hiking, biking and generally surrounded by stunning scenery.
You will have your own private accommodation (a large caravan with king-sized bed, kitchen, living area and bathroom), wifi access and all food will be provided.
In exchange we're looking for help on the project and with caring for the children after school.
Ideally you will have some experience with construction/building work and be fairly 'handy'!
There is a huge variety or things that can be done here, depending on your interests and skills. Tom is a builder by trade and we are doing the renovation work ourselves, so if you're interested in picking up any practical skills there's not much Tom couldn't show you. We have land where we are preparing to grow food, and have a menagerie of chickens, ducks and quails. We're hoping to add more animals soon.
Our girls are 5 and 2, they are full of life and very sociable! It's been really fun watching them make connections with our helpers so far.
If you're into digital / social media we’re also really keen to find help with making videos.
We want to fill our space with interesting people who we can learn from, and who can learn from us - we hope that no matter what your interests you'd find it really fulfilling spending time here.
This could be a great opportunity for a digital nomad / remote worker to spend the winter somewhere different!
Activities & Shift
There's lots of different things going on here! We are in the early-stages of converting some of the old barns into holiday accommodation. This will be our focus over winter, as well as preparing one of our fields to become a large vegetable patch for next spring.
Workdays will mainly be during the week, with weekends free to explore this beautiful area. The hours can be flexible - the core hours of the day will likely be spent on the barns while the kids are at school, but obviously the hours will be different for the helper who looks after the children for a couple of hours after school (approx 4-6:30pm). If you're a remote worker we can discuss times that work for you.
Rules
- Communicate openly and respectfully with us and the children (and we will do the same to you!)
- Look after the property: tidy up after yourselves in the communal areas, keep the caravan clean (to keep pests away)
- No swearing around the children
