Join our family at Kebon Tamantirto in Yogyakarta! Help us care for the garden, conserve our water spring and river, and assist in our open kitchen in the afternoon. Your days may include planting, cooking, visiting local markets, or sharing meals together. We ask for a contribution of USD 13/day, which directly supports:
💦 Conservation Work – protecting the water spring & river.
🛏️ Shared Accommodation – eco-volunteer house.
🍲 Breakfast – local, healthy meals.
🌱 Programs at Kebon Tamantirto – conservation & food security activities.

Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.
Team Dorm:

Program Details
At Kebon Tamantirto, we are a family in Yogyakarta dedicated to conserving our local water spring and river while supporting these efforts through an open kitchen and urban farming. Volunteers can expect to join us in the garden, help with conservation activities, and sometimes assist in the open kitchen during afternoons. In return, we provide a warm family atmosphere, shared meals, cultural exchange, and the chance to learn about nature conservation and local traditions.
Activities & Shift
Typical volunteer activities may include:
Gardening (planting, watering, composting, harvesting)
Conservation support (cleaning river areas, helping maintain the water spring)
Assisting in the open kitchen (serving, preparing simple food, helping the team)
Occasional trips to local markets with us
Sharing meals and cultural exchange with our family
Shifts:
Morning (around 8:00 – 11:00): Garden and conservation tasks
Afternoon (around 15:00 – 18:00): Open kitchen support or helping the family
Approx. 20–25 hours per week, flexible with communication
Rules
No smoking inside the house or on the balcony.
No parties allowed.
Our toilet is a dry toilet — please keep it clean and dry.
You’ll be living inside our family house. Respect our privacy, never steal, and always ask permission if you want to use or learn about something.
Be communicative, fun, and adventurous — we’d love to share experiences with you!
Respect the family, local culture, and nature.
No drugs or excessive alcohol on the property.
Keep shared spaces clean and tidy.
Communicate in advance if you need a day off.
