The experience

Help us keep La Halte Internationale in Québec City spotless and welcoming! Tasks include cleaning rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and common areas, changing linens, restocking supplies, emptying trash, and ensuring a fresh, safe, and comfortable space for guests. Live in a multicultural environment and meet travelers from around the world.


What you offer

15 hours of help per week

Night Shift: Help with night shift tasks and create a relaxing environment for guests.

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.


What you get

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Intermediate English or Beginner French

Between 20 and 40 years old

Program Details

How It Works
At La Halte Internationale, volunteers help keep the house tidy and welcoming through three main daily moments:
1️⃣ Morning – Quick check of the kitchen sink.
2️⃣ Late morning (11 AM–1 PM) – Make rooms and bathrooms fresh for guests.
3️⃣ Evening – Turn off lights, check sink again, and connect with guests.


Activities & Shift

Volunteers follow a simple daily rhythm focused on keeping the house welcoming and comfortable.
• Morning (5–10 min) – Quick check of the kitchen sink and common areas.
• Late Morning (11 AM–1 PM) – Main cleaning shift: refresh rooms, change linens, tidy bathrooms, and maintain shared spaces.
• Evening (10–15 min) – Turn off lights, check the sink again, and engage with guests to ensure they feel at home.


Rules

1. Respect the Schedule
• Morning check (5–10 min): Kitchen sink, common area tidiness.
• Main cleaning shift (11 AM–1 PM): Rooms, bathrooms, shared spaces.
• Evening check (10–15 min): Lights off, sink clean, guest engagement.
2. Cleanliness & Attention to Detail
• Keep all areas tidy and hygienic, using provided cleaning products.
• Replace linens as scheduled and check for pests.
• Report any maintenance or cleanliness issues immediately.
3. Guest Interaction
• Be friendly and approachable.
• Help guests feel welcome, respecting their privacy.
4. Communication
• Use WhatsApp for updates with the manager (MAGNUS).
• Report any supply shortages (e.g., coffee, soap, toilet paper).
5. Safety & Comfort
• Ensure the house is secure and quiet after 10 PM.
• Monitor for any safety issues in rooms, kitchen, or parking area.
6. Proactive Mindset
• Take initiative to solve small issues without waiting for instructions.
• Offer suggestions to improve the guest experience.
