The experience

Are you looking to experience the authentic beauty of Japan’s Seto Inland Sea? Join us at our small, friendly hostel on Omishima Island – part of the famous Shimanami Kaido cycling route! We’re seeking a cheerful and responsible helper to support us with reception duties and light housekeeping.

You’ll welcome guests from around the world, assist with check-ins and help keep the hostel clean and comfortable.

What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

What you get

3 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Requirements

Intermediate English or Beginner Japanese

Between 20 and 50 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

What's not included

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa

Program Details

We are looking for people who can help spread the word about the charms of Omishima on the Shimanami Kaido and who can provide support for travelers with a positive attitude.
We are also looking for people who can actively communicate with local people and have fun.

Activities & Shift

Schedule: 4 hours per day, 8 days off a month
Hours: anytime between 9AM to 9PM depending on the tasks

Rules

We would prefer to have people here for at least a month, ideally 2 months!

Open for students, working holiday visa holders or anybody with a valid working visa!!
