Live & Volunteer in Nam Hong – A Cultural Village in the Clouds
The experience
High above the clouds in Nam Hong cultural village, a unique English class unfolds on the mountain slopes. Here, ethnic minority children—Dao, H’mong, Tay—gather with international volunteers to explore new words and worlds. No blackboard, no walls—just open skies, shared laughter, and young minds reaching for the future in a classroom made of clouds.

Program Details
At Nam Hong Cultural Village, we welcome volunteers who are passionate about community, culture, and meaningful exchange. Your main role will be to teach basic English to local children (with flexible lesson styles), help with gardening, light homestay tasks, or support community activities. We expect 3 hours of work per day plus 1 hour of cultural sharing with host families—like cooking, storytelling, or joining local events.
In return, you'll receive a unique chance to live among mountains and rice terraces, experience the daily life of ethnic minorities, enjoy home-cooked meals, and build deep human connections. We want this to be more than volunteering—it’s a chance to grow, give, and truly belong.
Activities & Shift
Daily Schedule (approx. 4 hours/day):
3 hours of volunteering (morning or afternoon shifts):
✔️ Teach basic English to local children (flexible & fun)
✔️ Help in the garden or around the homestay (light work)
✔️ Support local events or cultural workshops when needed
1 hour of cultural exchange with the host family:
Cooking together, practicing languages, or simply sharing stories and laughter
Shifts are usually from 8:30–11:30 AM or 2:00–5:00 PM, depending on weather and village schedule.
Weekends are flexible for rest, exploration, or joining community activities!

Sharing a local rice wine with the host is fine, but always in a respectful and cultural context.
