The experience

This experience is for the volunteer who wants to see and do a bit more while in South Africa. This combines volunteer conservation work in an UNECO world heritage site with an awesome wildlife and safari experience including cultural life while exploring Zululand as well as Swaziland with a variety of safaris and activities. During the week volunteers are active in research and conservation and on weekends we explore the parks and go on tour.


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Description: This volunteer experience include many activities including a Discover Scuba Diving course in Sodwana Bay and safaris in Isimangaliso Wetlands Park as well as the Kruger National Park also included is a weekend n Swaziland. All meals and great accommodation in a private room This will also include transfers to and from the airport, all conservation fees , project fees and everything needed for an incredible experience

Program Details

This program covers both volunteering and travelling for the person who want to experience the best of Africa. This program involve all aspects of life in Africa, from meeting the locals to getting up close to Africa's wildlife. During your time you will take part in our conservation project at Lake Sibaya, an UNESCO World Heritage Site for biodiversity and take part in the many activities the area has to offer.
We will meet you at the airport in Richards Bay. Your experience will start as we make our through Imfolozi National Park and Phinda Reserve on our way to Lake Sibaya where we will be based.
Here you will take part in the "Save Sibaya "Project dedicated to identify, photograph and catalog a variety of species found around the lake. You will also take part in various other conservation tasks such as hippo monitoring or research related tasks.
During this week we will also visit the pristine beaches that makes up the Elephant Coast. The tropical ocean is great for snorkeling/scuba or whale/dolphin watching.

Our second week will be more focused on the surrounding National parks where you will work closely with the park rangers assisting in various conservation tasks. We will spend these days inside Mkuze National Park where we will also do various safaris while stay at our private safari lodge. During this week we will go into detail concerning mammal identification, behavior and tracking.
Your 3rd week the project will be focused on the local community. For this time you will be with the local Zulu Tribe, assisting in other community based tasks.
The last week we will visit Swaziland and Kruger National Park

Activities & Shift

Each day will be different. This program is packed with activities related to wildlife and conservation and includes a variety of practical work, lessons, safaris and leisure activities.
Our days usually start early with a breakfast before we head into the wilderness. We will spend our days in the parks, identifying/monitoring wildlife and return to our lodge in the evenings for dinner around the camp fire, Off time is usually spend on the beach.
