I definitely enjoyed my stay in the guest house. The surrounding area is quaint and relaxing. You'll always be surrounded by the sound of water, whether it is a river, a hot spring or the rain. Because of the guest house Kodo you will meet lots of international travelers coming through on their hike, often eager to have a chat. The team a the hostel is super nice, and I had fun hanging out with them a well. However keep in mind that the area in fact is very remote. No shops in the immediate vicinity. The next small supermarket, cafes and restaurant are in the next town, about 45 min by foot.

A lovely place for a spiritual retreat in a small village surrounded by the mountains! I enjoyed the peace and quiet while discovering the surroundings, eventough it was mostly about hiking in the middle of nowhere, but the landscapes are so beautiful, it makes it worth it. Also, it is a great way to immerse yourself in the japanese culture that you wouldn't experience in the big cities, one of the big plus of my stay. Moreover, I hate cleaning but the task were simple and the amount of work wasn't huge, less than 3 hours as promised.

I had a lovely stay at the guest house - it was exactly what I expected. Lovely area with lots of nature, and hikes. It's pretty far from the bigger city Shingu, but I loved going to the nearby town Hongu, which has a really nice café. The staff house was very nice, I really enjoyed having my own room. The other volunteers and the staff really made you feel welcome and were always there if you needed help with anything. Would definitely recommend this place for people who want to get a bit away from the city, and just enjoy a slower pace.

My stay at the guest house hostel was an experience I definitely won't forget! The staff members are super kind. Especially Naohiro-san made sure that I was always comfortable and well! My coworkers turned this place into a home for the month that I stayed there and I couldn't recommend it more! Especially if you're also into nature and hiking! the guest house Kodo hiking trail is definitely worth doing. I was just awestruck by the nature everywhere! There were even some opportunities where me and my coworkers were able to use the company car to go to far away places! Thank you for everything!

My time at the guest house was really nice :) The work is pretty easy and you have the whole day off after finishing your shift from 10am to 1pm. I loved the team: Tomo, Yosuke and Naohiro! They are very sweet and ambitious people. They are interested in you as a person and try their best to make you feel at home :) Just keep in mind that this location is a bit remote so you should like hiking, quietness and talking to new people :) Thank you for the lovely experience!

I had such a great time at the guest house in the guest house. The team is amazing and made me feel very welcome. The guesthouse is very comfortable and you will often have the place just you and the team after shift, to relax, go on hikes or make use of the amazing onsen. The surrounding area is beautiful and it is a great experience to get to know the Japanese countryside.

The guest house is a place I'd definitely love to return to. Surrounded by beautiful nature, small villages and trails, it's perfect for those who love peace and the outdoors. The work was well-organised and straightforward, and while sharing a room with so many people was tough at first, you just get used to it. What really made it special were the people. They were incredibly supportive and helped me out when I had a few issues and worked out with me to find solutions. It's also a great place to meet other travelers, making the stay even more fun.

This was an experience I'll remember forever. If you're thinking on doing your first volunteering experience at the guest house do it, you are gonna feel at home. They are the sweetest and kindest people you'll ever meet,the work is not hard at all and if you don't know how to do something, don't worry they'll teach you with much pleasure and patience. the guest house is a small village in the middle of nature, there are many torii, shrines & other beautiful things to see in the nearby towns but also in the woods, just go wandering and you'll find magic. A wonderful experience. The team was amazing. I had a great time in a beautiful place, very calm and relaxing for the mind. There's almost nothing around, which encourages you to rest and enjoy the surroundings. If you like being away from the hustle and bustle of the city and taking a moment to breathe, this is perfect for you. Thanks to Naosan and the other members who are always attentive.
