Program Details
Our children have moved away so we are left we spare rooms and extra jobs to manage the farm while still running our businesses. Sustainability in all its forms is very important to us. Our primary business is a glass recycling plant based in Perth as well as an engineering business primarily supplying equipment to the recycling industry. At home, sustainability comes in the form of growing our own meat and vegetables, relying on solar for most of our electricity, and rainwater for water. Most of our heating comes from firewood gathered from our property. We are keen to host travelers looking to contribute to our sustainability goals and experience relaxed outdoor living,
We travel frequently so we are also keen to have help looking after the farm while we are away. We have a variety of jobs to keep the farm running. Depending on the season this could involve harvesting and chopping wood, repairing fences, feeding the cows and chickens, painting, building projects, general cleaning and gardening. We are very flexible on hours so it will be possible some weeks to work 3-4 days and have the opportunity to travel. We are only one hour drive from the center of Sydney, so we offer the chance to experience fresh air and country living without missing out on seeing the city highlights. We are just 5 minutes from Wisemans Ferry and the Hawkesbury River, so there is the opportunity for bush walks, swimming and kayaking. There is a picturesque bush walking track on our property, and a lap pool for swimming in the summer months.
We will provide food for all meals. Generally, we'll expect you to make your own breakfast and lunch, but to join us for dinner when that works. You will have full access to the kitchen to cook for yourself if we're away.
Activities & Shift
Very flexible on hours, days and jobs
