The experience
Sickle cell podium is a non-profit organization established in 2023 to empower and support livelihood of people living with sickle cell disease.
It is located in the eastern part of Uganda in Namakoko, Bugiri District and was formed with purpose of helping,inspiring and advocating for a better living for those with sickle cell anemia.

What you offer
15 hours of help per week
Teaching Sports:
Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.
Social Work:
Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.
Child Care:
Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.
What you get
3 days off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Team Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Lunch:
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
Dinner:
You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
Discounts on Accommodation:
Get discounts for your stay in other hostels.
Free Laundry:
You can use our laundry room freely.
Pick Up:
We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.
Dance classes:
Take free dance classes at our place.
Language lessons:

Certificate:
Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Program Details
Our volunteer program is designed to bring people together to support individuals affected by Sickle Cell Disease. Here is how it works:
1. Application: Interested volunteers submit an application, specifying their availability and preferred role.
2. Orientation: Volunteers receive orientation and training on camp policies, procedures, and SCD awareness.
3. Assignment: Volunteers are assigned to roles that match their skills and interests.
4. Support: Volunteers receive ongoing support and supervision from camp staff.
5. Impact: Volunteers contribute to the success of our camp programs, making a positive impact on the lives of individuals affected by SCD.
Activities & Shift
1.Morning
(8:00am-8:30am)
-Prayer time with the children
(8:30am-9:30am)
-Breakfast
(9:30am-11:30)
-Interacting with children through guidance and counselling sessions,playing with them,learning new experiences about the camp,assisting in any health care needed.
(11:30am-12:30pm)
-leisure time,playing football with the natives,volleyball,badminton,board games and many more.
(12:30pm-1:00pm)
-freshen up time
(1:00pm-2:30pm)
-Lunch time
(2:30pm-4:00pm)
-Family Home Visits(here we carry a few gifts for the families to be visited)
