The experience

Help our local nursery school by assisting teachers with basic lessons, songs, games, and creative activities. You’ll support early learning, practice language skills, and bring positive energy to the kids. No formal experience is needed — just patience, kindness, and a love for working with children!


What you offer

16 hours of help per week

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: € 17 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers and Materials for volunteer activities

Description: Volunteers contribute 17 $ to cover expenses for food and maintenance


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely


Requirements

Intermediate English or Beginner English

Between 18 and 66 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

Join our warm and welcoming home in Karonga, Malawi, near the lake. You’ll help with childcare, support teaching at our nursery school, assist with housekeeping, cooking, and light gardening. In return, you’ll experience local culture, connect with our friendly family, and explore the beauty of Malawi. Perfect for those who love working with children, sharing new skills, and making a positive impact


Activities & Shift


Your day will typically involve a few hours of hands-on help in the morning and/or afternoon, leaving plenty of time to explore or relax. Activities include:

Helping with childcare and playing with the kids

Assisting at our nursery school with lessons and creative play

Supporting with light housekeeping and tidying up communal areas

Preparing and sharing simple meals with the family

Helping in the garden with watering and basic upkeep

Shifts usually last around 4–5 hours per day, with at least one or two full days off per week. We’re flexible and aim to create a fun, balanced schedule so you can also enjoy the local surroundings!


Rules

Always be kind, patient, and encouraging with the children.

Maintain a safe and friendly learning environment at all times.

Arrive on time and be prepared for each session.

Speak clearly and use simple, positive language.

Follow the nursery school’s routines and guidelines.

Never use harsh words or physical discipline we promote gentle, caring teaching.
