The experience
As a Medical Assistant volunteer, you will support local healthcare providers by assisting with basic medical and administrative tasks in clinics or community health centers. Your role will include helping with patient intake, taking vital signs, organizing medical supplies, and supporting health education initiatives.

Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Program Details
Our Medical Assistant program offers volunteers the chance to support local healthcare services in northern Malawi by assisting clinics and community health centers. Volunteers help with essential tasks such as patient intake, basic health assessments, organizing medical supplies, and participating in health education campaigns.
This program provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a healthcare environment while contributing to the well-being of underserved communities. Volunteers will work alongside dedicated health professionals, learning about common health challenges and preventive care strategies in the region.
Activities & Shift

Daily Activities May Include:
Assisting with patient registration and intake processes
Taking vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, and pulse
Organizing and managing medical supplies and equipment
Supporting health education sessions on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention
Assisting healthcare staff with basic administrative tasks
Participating in community outreach and awareness campaigns
Typical Shift Times:
Morning Shift: 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Afternoon Shift: 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM (optional or based on clinic needs)
