Program Details

Do you want to learn Spanish?

This is a Spanish homestay experience at a fraction of the price of normal homestays. Join a meaningful experience in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon, where you’ll live with a local family and support our community-led programs through the Awaken Foundation. This is more than just volunteering—it’s an immersive cultural language exchange program rooted in respect, learning, and connection. .

Each day, you’ll spend around 3-4 hours supporting the community in one of two ways:
🌟 Lead a small “club” or workshop based on your talents—art, language, music, dance, computer skills, nature walks, birdwatching—anything you’re passionate about!
🌟 Or, assist with childcare, giving local mothers time to rest, work, or participate in Awaken’s programming. Your presence helps create space for well-being.

In return, you’ll receive two home-cooked meals a day, daily Spanish lessons or conversation practice, and the chance to be fully immersed in the rhythms, traditions, and language of a vibrant Amazonian community.

You'll be hosted by one of our trusted partner families—warm, welcoming households who are excited to share their lives and culture with you. Accommodations are basic but comfortable, with clean rooms and shared living spaces.

This program is part of Awaken Foundation’s broader mission to support education, health, and sustainable livelihoods across Ecuador’s rural and Indigenous communities. Your time and energy help support families in becoming more self-sufficient—while giving you an unforgettable, deeply meaningful experience in return.

Expect connection. Expect growth. Expect to be changed in the best way possible.
