The experience

Join us in rural Malawi to support local schools from kindergarten through secondary level. Most volunteers teach in kindergarten, primary, and junior high, where you’ll assist with English, Math, Science, Local Language, Moral & Religious Education, Creative Arts, and Sports. No formal teaching experience is needed just enthusiasm and a willingness to help!

What you offer

17 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 17 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers and Materials for volunteer activities

Description: volunteers are encouraged to contribute 17$ per day which goes towards accommodation and three meals per day as well as security.

Pub Crawls: Be a part of our pub crawls at local bars!

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Yoga classes: Take free yoga classes at our place.

Surf lessons: Take free surf classes at the local beaches.

Dance classes: Take free dance classes at our place.

Permaculture Course: Take part in our Permaculture course for free.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Intermediate English

Between 18 and 80 years old

Program Details

Local schools face large class sizes, few teaching resources, and a lack of creative or practical learning. Volunteers offer fresh ideas, energy, and support, especially for children falling behind in the traditional, lecture-style classrooms. Your presence also enables inclusive education efforts, like helping students with disabilities access learning.

Your Role:
• Assist teachers or lead lessons based on your comfort
• Support children aged 4+ in basic reading, writing, and creativity
• Organize sports and fun activities that build confidence and engagement
• Offer 1-on-1 help to students struggling with English or class content
• Plan lessons using teaching guides and materials available at the volunteer house

Extras:
• Placement is Mon–Fri with weekends free for travel
• Transport costs: $4-6 USD/day (shared taxis to and from)
• Holiday programs are run during school breaks, focused on sports and arts
