3 weeks at the lodge as a volunteer was awesome and so much fun. The work at reception can get a little overwhelming on the first days but it'll be lighter once the volunteer gets to know the daily tasks. So many perks, such as tours, walks, hikes, the food is amazing and they offer laundry service. Schedules are respected and Maria and Jose are great people and are always willing to assist. The connection with nature was beautiful. It was def a great experience! the lodge is a beautiful place.

I spent 3 weeks at the lodge as a yoga instructor. Overall it was an amazing experience and I developed my teaching skills a lot during my time there. I taught 2 classes per day (6 days a week) in exchange for 3 meals (I really liked the food) and accommodation, which I think is a very good volunteer arrangement. The newly built cabaña where volunteers stay is really nice with a lovely view, but there is no electricity. Communication from management could be improved and I felt like some more introduction (showing volunteers around on arrival etc.) would have made me feel more welcome.

The lodge is an amazing place to stay, landscape wise but also staff wise. We had the chance to truly mangle with the other volunteers and some members of the staff that really helped us with our Spanish. The reception work was fantastic, you never get bored and you get to meet all of the guests. It was also very pleasant to be able to take part in the tour offered by the finca. However I think some amelioration could be done regarding the housing. There is no real volunteer dorm apart from a cabana in construction with made a bit hard to sleep through all of our stay.

I absolutely loved my experience at the lodge. I taught yoga twice a day (one class at sunrise, one at sunset) and really enjoyed the work! As for the property, it's absolutely wonderful, so peaceful and beautiful. The people were so lovely, I felt so welcomed and I really enjoyed interacting with everyone. Paso del Mango is truly a special place and I feel very lucky to have spent some time there. Thank you everyone at the lodge ❤️

The lodge is a beautiful place to stay, perfect if you're looking for a break from the city and party life. I do wish there had been better communication and more opportunities to get to know the staff.

I loved the place, work was reasonable and I truly connected with the nature! Also the food was amazing! Absolutely worth it and a great experience! My only heads up is that the employees are not very welcoming and even a bit rude some of them. But the owner is amazing and everything else as well!

The hostel is gorgeous, and we had a wonderful time. It is definitely a good place to rest, and we get along really well with the team (the staff and the volunteers). However, the volunteering description was barmaid, and I mainly was there to wash the dishes after breakfast or diner, da few juices and help translating from english to spanish. It ended up being ok, mainly because I had a great time with the staff. Finally, we started by sleeping in a tent, which was ok but a bit too small for the two of us, and were moved to a dorm in construction. Some things can be improved but it was ok.

The hostel is absolutely gorgeous, and I loved teaching yoga in the mornings. However, teaching at night meant dealing with a lot of mosquitos—definitely wear bug spray. Yummy food but a bit repetitive at times. They made extra food when asked bc were hungry). Volunteers stayed in tents by the river, but I asked to be moved and was accommodated, though my bed wasn't reserved properly, and I ended up in an unfinished dorm with a rickety bunk and a ladder that felt unsafe. The kitchen staff made volunteers feel unwelcome at times. I stayed 4 weeks—bit long, but the scenery was hard to leave!

Thank you for sharing your experience! We're so happy you enjoyed the beauty of the hostel and your time teaching yoga. We appreciate your feedback about the mosquitos—bug spray is definitely a must!

Regarding staff friendliness, we understand that it might have been challenging to connect since you were busy working on your laptop for long hours. Our team always enjoys spending time with volunteers, but we also respect personal space, especially during work hours.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the lodge. The place is beautiful and the people are very kind. There are several waterfalls nearby that you can explore and a couple places you can visit nearby like the cacao farm and ecological reservation. I think the trade is very fair as you only work 25 hours and get 3 meals a day, all of which were delicious! If you are applying for the bartending position, it is mostly doing dishes and cleaning with occasionally helping guests and making juices. With that being said, I still think it is well worth it! I will miss this place:)

It was challenging to live in a volunteer dorm room since it is not finished so no doors and also I had to clime the construction leadder instead of stairs. Other than that, ppl work there is awesome and beautiful environment and all. I'd recommend this place !
