Permaculture and Natural Building near Abruzzo and Rome Italy
The experience
Our permaculture food forest provides lots of fun projects, including special composting methods, bio-char garden beds, bamboo creations, to name only a few. We are also practicing some sustainable building methods. And this October we need to plaster the interior walls of our little house. We use all natural lime plasters, and might experiment with some cob/clay on some surfaces. It is very fun and satisfying. Come grow food and sling mud!

Program Details
We are happy to teach you principles of permaculture and work with you in making some good food and beautiful plants grow, as well as work on interesting landscape and structural projects.
If you come in October we will be teaching you the methods of mixing and applying lime plaster, but also teaching you the advantages of natural mineral plasters when working with stone walls. We will work with you, and although the work takes energy and focus it has no particular strength requirements, and does not require working at any great heights. You just need to be willing to get a little dirty and go up on a short step ladder. It's surprisingly fun and interesting.
Activities & Shift
We will work from about 9 until 3, with a 1 hour lunch break in the middle (if it's especially hot, we will adjust this schedule for cooler times of day).
Lunch and dinner are provided. Breakfast is independently provided by volunteer in their own separate kitchen (we are happy to give rides to market for your shopping needs).
Rules
No loud partying or excessive drinking/smoking. We are a couple in 40s/50s who are on the mellower side....though we love playing music and laughing and having fun. Evening activities are limited by off-grid solar system.
facilities are comfortable but using sustainable methods, with outdoor shower (with solar hot water heater), and composting toilet.
