The experience

We’re looking for a volunteer with experience in gardening, woodworking, or construction. You’ll stay in a free private room with a fridge, private bathroom and have access to a shared kitchen. Our place is in beautiful Playa Sámara, centrally located yet peaceful, surrounded by a lush garden. If you’re detail-oriented, responsible, and love an organized space, we’d love to hear from you! 🌴

What you offer

24 hours of help per week

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Requirements

Intermediate English or Intermediate Spanish

Between 21 and 30 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Be from outside Costa Rica

Program Details

This position involves regular physical work such as painting, sanding, gardening, and general maintenance tasks. Reliability and respect for instructions are essential. We are looking for someone who takes responsibility for their work and understands that maintenance tasks directly affect the quality of our property.

Activities & Shift

You will work 5 days per week, supporting our vacation homes with practical maintenance and garden work.
Your main tasks may include:
Gardening and outdoor maintenance
General maintenance and repair work
Pool cleaning
Painting, sanding and basic woodwork (depending on your skills)
Supporting ongoing repair and improvement projects
Due to the tropical climate, there is always maintenance work to be done.
Shifts & Working Hours
Work schedule: 5 days per week
Solo traveler: approx. 24 hours per week
Couple: 42 hours per week together (shared responsibility)
Working hours are mainly during the daytime
2 days off per week
Tasks and schedules are coordinated with our maintenance manager.

Rules

We’re happy to welcome volunteers to our little paradise. To ensure a smooth and respectful collaboration, the following house rules and expectations apply:
All general house rules that apply to our guests apply to volunteers as well.
Keeping your room clean and tidy is entirely your responsibility.
Rooms are checked regularly and must be maintained in good condition at all times.
Punctuality is essential. Work commitments must be respected.
If you prepare your own food, you are expected to clean the kitchen thoroughly after use (dishes, surfaces, shared areas).
We expect you to be present, attentive, and proactive. Please look around, notice what needs to be done, and take initiative.
This position is for people who are genuinely interested in the work – not just in having a free place to stay.
We value responsibility, respect, and clear communication.

We provide accommodation only. Meals are not included. Volunteers have access to a shared kitchen for self-catering.
