The experience

We're seeking a mature volunteer to help establish an online store that showcases and sells local products from Ometepe Island. This role offers a unique opportunity to support local artisans and entrepreneurs while gaining experience in e-commerce development and digital marketing.

Web Developer: Help develop and maintain websites.

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Program Details

We need help creating an online store that showcases and sells local products from The Local's Collective (a community-development outreach facilitated by www.obgm.org) This role offers a unique opportunity to impact entire families in Ometepe and to help stabilize local artisans' earning potential. We'd like to start by showcasing high-quality, artisanal jewelry and small items that will be easy to transport back and forth to the United States where the shipping will take place in the future.

You will:

Collaborate with the team to understand the "store’s" goals and product offerings

Design, develop, and launch a user-friendly online store using platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, or similar

Upload product photos, descriptions, and pricing information

Help Set up payment gateways and shipping options suitable for local and international customers

Ensure the website is mobile-responsive, accessible, and optimized for search engines

Provide training or documentation for local team members to manage the store effectively
