Building Clay Rooms in Surf Paradise

This experience was overall incredible! Manrique has great energy and communicates about the work each day. The work was fair and fun as we shoveled dirt then made it into clay to build over the span of a few days. This is perfect for someone who enjoys balancing alone time and being social. The nature and peace of the property is incredible. Things to note are that living in the dry jungle can make things dirty inside and you will see some bugs. Also there is no transportation, but you can walk and sometimes Manrique coordinated rides. I truly loved my experience here all things considered!

I had a blast on my first Worldpackers adventure! Our host was accommodating, friendly, and supportive. We surfed and went to local events every day. Highly recommend and hope that I can come back again in the future!

This was an amazing experience! Manrique arranged a lot of fun activities throughout our stay, and the work we did on the property was very educating and not too long at all. There are a lot of plants and animals on the property, making it a great way to connect with the beautiful nature of Costa Rica. Thank you for a great experience Manrique!

I really enjoyed my stay at Manirique's house . He is really a very kind host. Living in his place was a truly immersive experience in the nature. We did a surf lesson which was really nice. His father were so nice and he drove us to the beach sometimes. We tasted some amazing Costa Rican specialities for breakfast. Because of the period of the year I think, there wasn't many volonteers and there wasn't a lot of things to do during the day. But this was a great volunteer experience!

Grateful for every moment! Manrique's positive energy and warm personality helped make this experience more enjoyable. While there's plenty of downtime- the property is a beautiful atmosphere , & i'd recommend bringing things to keep you occupied. Manrique shared his extensive knowledge about bio construction, nature, and more. He's a down to earth person & every conversation was a delight. Whether it was organizing time for surf lessons, salsa classes, or jamming sessions, he is intentional about making it an enriching experience. Overall, the work was pretty easygoing & spent in nature!

Finca was a nice experience but different to what I expected. The pros where Manrique's commitment to making the volunteers feel welcome and engaged and taking us to all kinds of activities like surfing, salsa night, jamming, drum circle, etc; the work was interesting and educational too. The cons where that there isn't much to do around the property and it's very far from the beach, the heat during the month of March was draining and the breakfast seemed overpriced. I did get to socialize with other travelers which was pretty nice.

When I got there everything was perfect. A beautiful place and Manrique was incredibly welcoming and kind. The other volunteers were lovely too and they told me all about how amazing there time had been so far. However after a few days most volunteers started to leave. I expected more volunteers to come. It turned out that there were no more volunteers coming, because his dad was visiting. With two others leaving a bit earlier than planned, I was on my own. It just was not what I had expected and pretty lonely. It was really disappointing but probably just bad timing.

My time at the project was good:) It is a great way to feel connected to nature and live a peacful life. The work was easy, often it would be less hours than expected, so you have a lot of free time. The only thing is that the surfing beach Guilones and the parties are in another city so it can be hard to get there. We rentet a golf car a couple of days and that was great! The breakfast was always so good! It was traditional food cooked by a local woman. The rest of the meals you cook yourself, but there is a supermarked 10 min away by foot so that is nice:)

I had a great time, learning surfing, cooking with the other volunteers and building a clay wall. It was fun experiencing with natural recourses and learning about their benefits. Not to mention Teriyaki🤘🏼💚

I enjoyed my stay here, Manrique was helpful and knowledgeable about nature and sustainable living. He let us use his surf boards and brought us surfing whenever we had the chance to go. I felt very in touch with the locals, they brought us dancing, and we would often have meals together. The beach is about a half hour walk and the view is breathtaking. Highly recommend
